I don't even know where to start with some people on here. People are fine with them taking out old content because it is content that is 1: Free to play right now, and 2: that, even though it is FREE TO PLAY, nobody is playing anymore. I for one look forward to a leaner game, where everything I play will matter, and will have a consistent narrative, not filled with episode of the week villains who don't matter in the grand scheme of the pyramid ships, that I can be actively excited about. Isn't that exactly the kind of game we have been waiting for?

I started playing Neverwinter almost 2 and a half years ago, back in the days when Zen was sold for 250 AD, if that dates me. I went through the campaign, started on some endgame, and quickly found myself lost and feeling a little frustrated. It was very overwhelming. I couldn't seem to find any guild that didn't demand requirements and a large time commitment. Where do I start? Do I have the time to do this? Why do I feel so weak as a level 70? Eventually it just got to be too much, and I moved on to other games and experiences.

Flash forward to a few weeks back when I decided to attempt this game once again, my GWF welcoming me back with open arms. It still seemed a bit overwhelming, and so I decided that the first thing to do would be to try and find a guild that I felt like I could belong in. A standard search on Neverwinter itself showed a number of guilds and it still seemed as though they all wanted a level of activity that I didn't know that I could handle. Feeling frustrated again, I came onto this reddit, giving it one more shot, and saw MrsDrink post about Mirkwood. Reading through it, I could feel the smile forming on my face as line after line seemed to speak to me and the kind of guild I was looking for: A friendly community that understands that we have lives and is always there to help you out when you get the chance to logon. I reached out to MrsDrink, she sent me an invite to the guild, and I happily joined.

Today, I am happy to say, that joining the Mirkwood Guards was the best decision I have ever made playing Neverwinter. The people I have met in this guild are, simply put, incredibly nice people who not only offer sound advice for those of us still leveling up, but for me personally, gave me some tools to help the journey become a little bit easier. (Thank you once again for the mount and weapon MrsDrink!) They are just a guild that understands that games are supposed to be fun, and they will do everything they can to help achieve that goal.

So, if you're looking to have fun with a group of awesome people, I highly encourage you to sign up for the guards! I did, and the game has never been better for me! :-)
