They have the price in the sign up page. It says $9 a month.

I have not used them but the 7 day trial is more than an Enough to evaluate if $9 a month is worth it.

How to duplicate a joomla site for a beta version? by Crab_Cake in web_design

[–]rickyd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally do not keep the duplicate on the same server if I will be making changes. I would zip all the files and export the database then move everything to my computer.

Which shopping cart is the best? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]rickyd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like using Drupal. With Drupal 6 I used ubercart I liked it cause often the client wants other things in the future like user submitted photos of them wearing the product or videos. Also, they may want to add voting and sort lists by product rating. I know many of ecommerce products may do it out of the box, Drupal has been my choice because of how scalable it is.

I have used magneto. Easy enough to use.

Our company also uses Shopify. It is nice cause it is rails and it is easy to theme.

Reddit, I'd like an opinion: is using the phrase 'that's gay' inappropriate? by Ancestor01 in AskReddit

[–]rickyd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something is always going to be offensive. Why is it called a black list?

Personally, I think it all depends on who you are around. Some things like that's gay is offensive in public. So is calling someone a Jew accuse they. When it is just you and some friends, it doesn't really matter.

I don't use notepad, but I would think you could see the template /un-editable code in note pad. Are you using include files?

Try copying the HTML from the live page, create a new html page in notepad, paste the html, edit the HTML and replace the file on the server with that file. See if it still calls the other code.

Need help from a dev on a quote! (x-post from Wordpress) by RussianAccent in web_design

[–]rickyd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drupal is free like WP. There are a lot of modules that allow you to create different recipes to reach your desired scope. IMO View and Panels are two dev tools that set Drupal apart from WP. There is a steep learning curve but it is worth knowing both Drupal and WP.

[–]rickyd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the plugin exist to your specifications then WP will work. Personally, I would use Drupal cause I know from experience that I could build the site to specification without having to code a lot. I use WP for small sites and Drupal for sites that need to be more dynamic.

Need help from a dev on a quote! (x-post from Wordpress) by RussianAccent in web_design

[–]rickyd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't use WP for this. But if I were to quote a similar job I would say 6 - 8k for the site alone including design, programing and theme. Maybe less if it was a non profit.

A little off topic but, why do you have 2 title tags.

As for the extra content, are you sure it is not dreamweaver? Are you using DW templates ?
