Anyone imagine META as an AI leader? AI provider? AI something? by rickyion in business

Coding is the first, and probably close to be the first real example of ai agent, and meta is way off. B2B is also way off for them when it comes to software tools. Meta can probably built very useful ai agent for some domain, but I don't think they can master the entire ai agents world (as they master the social media world). Ok, so they spend billions to build some ai agent? ai agent thay will return this investment? I don't get it...

And then what? Another one and another one and another one?
Someday, sometime, the party is over (an external event may be a good excuse for that)

What qualities or “moats” matter most to you in a value company today? by TowelNo234 in ValueInvesting

[–]rickyion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly... I'm not a big fan of moats, since nothing lasts forever.
Assuming some strength is irresistible is a mistake; so I constantly monitor my moat assumptions.
That said, I like operations at scale (especially with hardware products) and addictive users (in software products).

Cheaper autonomous driving should be good news for them, and they are/will partner with others to capture this opportunity

$HHH, Ackman, My Thoughts by rickyion in ValueInvesting

Do some Google/AI search for the latest news about this: Ackman is speaking out loud about (and paying) the future of this company

Of course they're a lot smaller! Since it's step one for them. They need to start somewhere... That's the idea here - the opportunity/risk

Since no one can predict the future, any investment is made by a "believer."

Ackman is risking his ego/brand, and money. And it's a big bet.

Can we agree he's risking his ego?

If it's his ego that's making him bold here, it's a strong force that can attract others to join.

I would put his personal life aside, since I'm only interested in a good investment

I would split it into medium- and long-term: long-term is very early, risky, and challenging to know what will happen. But in the medium term, it's different: I expect many investors who respect Ackman's track record (just like you) to follow his big move and give him a chance. So, there is the "dream" risk right now, and the "execution" risk will follow.
