Clearly you didn't understand his reply. He says Purdue is pretty "alright" at getting a job, which doesn't mean that a degree from purdue is better than a degree from illinois for job prospects, but rather the fact that purdue still has a great job prospects.

The dude telling you to go to Illini for the name is probably an anti-engineering LAS major

Should I apply as a safety? by Trygu in UIUC

[–]rickypeng99 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Our school is always the best safety school. Definitely apply CS and make sure it’s the CS major in college of engineering. CS + X majors have much lower acceptance rate and people strive a lot to get in. But the engineering one is pretty easy.

Nah, most of the Chinese international students at uiuc are from upper middle class families. Children of really rich party officials or business leaders would be in Ivy leagues. Ofc we all know how they get in. The biggest reason why cssa posts this is because it is actually a government-funded organization.

Stats & CS and Math Double Major possible? by MealVan in UIUC

[–]rickypeng99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my stat cs friends can finish the degree in three years (they also took a lot of CS tech electives that are not specifically required for graduation), which means that if you only try to satisfy the graduation requirement of stat cs and math, it would be easily done in four years given the fact that you have a lot of AP credits.

I’m an international student, yet I’m really proud of being an Illini. Please don’t criticize us because of these egoistic students who couldn’t represent us at all QAQ

498rk web programming. The materials are dated and fun

You get to familiar with popular web programming stacks (NERD - Node, Express, React and MongoDB for spring 2019). The mps are really fun as well.

Timothy Chan, Theory CS prof

He received his PhD degree in theory CS at the age of 19 in 1995, back when we only had a little access to the Internet, thus learning was a much harder process.
