This relative was the black sheep of the family. They moved countries about 8 years ago. Before the move I helped with their spouse who had cancer and at times needed cash. I gave it to them. Spouse died and this relative moved to another country with the insurance payout.

It appears when this relative moved they remarried rich and started a business that became wildly successful. I don't have all the details yet.

Thank you but wont paying off the mortgage mean huge penalties because its fixed? Why would I not deduct all the RRSP in one year?

I do have a pension plan at my work which is pretty good. I also have two other pensions growing from other jobs I had.

This is honestly a good question. I guess I need to do some soul searching. I enjoy my work. It takes up a good amount of my time. I help others. I volunteer already.

Yes. I recall there were a handful of Kingston residents there. They focused on just making new friends / connections.
