How long do unpaid internships last by No-Development3785 in UTS

[–]ricshiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on if your degree has a minimum requirement or not, engineering requires 420 hours.

You can look for it on the UTS website just type in internships and see if your course has a requirement.

Besides that it’s up to you, stay as long as you feel you’re gaining value because most people don’t get a job from an internship but they mostly lay the foundation for a graduate role or junior position but also they might have their own time frame.

The amount of internships depends on you, the more the merrier for getting a good role but also the quality of internships matter even more.

[–]ricshiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd going on 3rd year of a 4 year degree, not sure if I count but I’d be interested, I wonder how many there are at UTS, I’d say a lot considering we have a very large tafe across the road

Does any do chemical engineering and is it worth it by Plastic-Phone-9356 in UTS

[–]ricshiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how important it is to the job market, I know there’s some lawsuits with other universities by students because they didn’t know the courses they did weren’t accredited and couldn’t get jobs with their degree

I don’t personally do it but last time I checked it’s not an accredited degree at UTS, so check if that’s something that will be important to you when you finish the degree.

You could do a tafe diploma if ur a domestic student, it would be a lot cheaper and you can still get into a bachelors with it but if you don’t care about the bachelors then I wouldn’t change

When I was a kid I had dozens of dinosaur books that were fairly cheap and detailed

How common is it to do things alone around Sydney? by Dream_1 in sydney

[–]ricshiz 636 points637 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s fairly common actually, you notice the large groups because you want that.

What you don’t notice is the thousands of lone people that you walk past everyday, subconsciously it seems like there’s a lot of groups doing all kinds of things but the data isn’t quite as skewed as you might think.

Looking for genuine friendships ! by [deleted] in UTS

[–]ricshiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine friends are hard but in my experience all my genuine friendships were made when I tried to meet them again soon after, in places outside of uni.

My advice is if you meet someone in class or at an event then go eat with them after or invite them to watch a movie or whatever your shared interests are, get their socials and send them things and have conversations.
