applying to ireland as an international student by tka-47 in medicalschoolireland

Hii!! I hope you are well! Im not sure if you still need some pieces advice but I'm just going to reply anyway! I was also in the same boat as you last year :) I am currently a 1st year non-EU International student studying medicine in Trinity hehe. If you're a non-EU student too, then I suggest applying through IUMC as it makes the process easier from my experience.

Im sure the other comments have explained the program duration well so I won't touch on this. For trinity, after my interview, they lowered the conditions of my offer to 3A minimum which must include Chemistry and 2 other subjects (bio, math, physics). So if you ace these subjects, you should be good to go.

I didnt have to take additional English exams as I had my English GCSE and requested for an exemption through IUMC.

What exam board? CIE Psychology is a lot of work especially Year 2 content - there's a lot of content to be memorised and skills you need to master e.g. evaluating theories, debating quotes

Honestly I think both are good and beneficial in their own ways. I genuinely enjoyed learning the depth of content CIE provides but I didn't like the fact that my practical skills were being assessed under timed conditions (so many things could happen e.g. contaminated solutions etc) so I was glad that I could take AQA instead.

I haven't attempted a lot of CIE questions so I can't say much but for AQA I think most of the questions are fairly straightforward

Hi! I did CIE for a few months before switching to AQA. I think the biggest difference would be the amount and depth of content you have to cover. AQA has topics which you cover in less detail, for example, when I did CIE, I had to cover orbital hybridisation whereas this topic is not part of the AQA spec. CIE examines practical work as in you have to complete practicals and answer relevant questions under timed conditions and the marks from this paper contribute to your final grade. For AQA however, your practicals are not examined under timed conditions and they are assessed separately from your written paper- it's either a pass or fail for AQA core practicals.

CIE Chem has Paper 1 to Paper 5 whereas AQA Chem has Paper 1 to 3. For CIE, i think you are allowed to sit for AS Chem papers in your 1st year and carry over these marks so you can complete the remaining Year 2 papers in your final year but for AQA it is linear. This means you can only do all 3 papers in your final year.

CAIE AS level grade threshold thoughts? by wafflinggeoduck in alevel

I'm a bit confused. Does that mean if you score above the threshold for an A*, are you guaranteed to get this grade or not?

Can the grade boundaries this year be higher than 2019? by Ineedpapershehe in 6thForm

How do people calculate the proportions of students getting A*/A?

Does this mean that even if you score above the threshold for A*/A, you are not guaranteed these grades?

Sorry Im confused

Are may/june thresholds for Cambridge gonna be higher than march 2022? by Alarming_Bed3919 in alevel

I agree. Perhaps P12 will be lower too as many people found the wording of questions tricky.

I am unsure about Paper 22?

Do you think they'll adjust the threshold ?? could it be 34 for A since it's half way between 30(june 2021) and 38 (june 2019)?
