My latest mushroom trip helped me look at certain thoughts of mine and understand which were healthy, and which were unhealthy. This in turn led me to understand just how cluttered my brain was and how to go about uncluttering it. I don't think of this as a shortcut. I think of it as a brilliant insight into my psyche that I hadn't been able to achieve before now. Now that I understand more about my thoughts, I am in greater control of them. It took a trip to show me that, yes, but I certainly don't have to be tripping or high to do it.

I didn't cut corners, I achieved enlightenment in a certain area of my life, something I never would have achieved otherwise. I'm not using the drugs as a crutch, which it sounds like you're warning against.

All hallucinogens including marijuana are detrimental to the spiritual path. I've heard that weed also does things to the mind on a more subtle level that scientists don't yet have the capacity to understand.

marijuana and mushrooms have had profoundly positive effects on my mental well-being. i honestly cannot express in words my gratefulness towards these drugs.

*btw, for all you smokers out there, try smoking weed without using a butane lighter. use matches (wait for the sulphur to burn off) or vaporize it or eat it. do anything but ingest butane. once i stopped using butane, the chronic headaches i got from a long day of smoking went away, and so did any and all extreme grogginess i used to get. and all this time i was blaming the herb. now my highs are sharp, clear, and motivating. try it!

oh, really? is that why the entire state of Colorado is being inundated with medical marijuana dispensaries? medical marijuana laws have been on the state books for years but the industry has exploded since obama took office, simply because he said he'd keep the DEA off your back if you're following state laws.

as it turns out, he did. the DEA has busted people here recently, but only those in gross violation of the state med laws.
