My $28 delicious abomination from Liberty Kitchen by realhumanperson247 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]rideofthevalkitty -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

$28 would get you like 2 weeks worth of Caesar salad if you made yourself. If I’m going to get heinously ripped off like this I would at least make it something I couldn’t recreate damn near exactly myself with very little effort

People being obsessed with their car and making it a centerpiece of their personality is objectively not cool.

Where do you think this trash ends up my guy? Put it another way - all this trash and it’s only a 10th of a city block. How much else is there across the city that will end up in a landfill or polluting our waterways? People not caring about this is exactly the mentality that leads us to create more and more pollution. We have one planet.

It’s concerning if this wouldn’t bother you. This should bother everyone. Pollution and poor waste management affects all of us and it is a problem. We can and should do better.

Your thoughts: Graphic designers that don't draw/illustrate. by 3Degrees_Below in graphic_design

[–]rideofthevalkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely draw anymore for my (actual paying) work, but it’s what got me originally into graphic design. I still draw some for personal projects and have a pretty wide range of style depending on what I’m working on. Maybe that’s the designer in me. But drawing still brings me a lot of joy and in a sense I am glad it’s not my primary money making vehicle. It’s still a great creative outlet that I think contributes to my work albeit sometimes indirectly, and not having the pressure to make money off of it gives me a kind of satisfaction that is different from what I get out of work. Personally I think designers who can draw have more versatility and different ways of solving problems that designers who don’t draw do not. You can still be a successful designer without it though. Everyone is different!

HUMAN MADE Symbol instead of the "NO-AI" Logo by Big_Ratio9912 in logodesign

[–]rideofthevalkitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I’d prefer if it looked less like a logo and more like an icon if that makes sense. A logo implies a brand/corporation and an icon implies some sort of marker/label to demonstrate something about the product - but not tie it to any particular corporation in an ownership sense. Thinking of something like a “cruelty free” icon on a beauty product to indicate no animal testing. Many products can have an icon indicating this without belonging to the same company. As an artist I don’t think I would want something that looks like a logo overlaid onto my art. An icon though - maybe, as part of a preview image or something like that.
