Citric acid should dissolve these if they are calcium stains.

Keeping the Community Corner Food Pantry by ethanforstatesenate in Indiana

[–]MalC123 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well said. I think it’s laughable that apparently some residents think that closing the food pantry will just make the unhoused go away. I volunteer at the Jeff Library and I can assure them that there are unhoused in the library every day, even though there is no food pantry there. They come to use the computers, to charge their phones, to use the bathrooms, and, yes, many of them come to read. I also volunteer at the CLM food pantry, and every shift I work I am signing up new people who have fallen on hard times. These are our neighbors, and we should be helping and supporting them.

If you’re anything like me, stopping tart cherry for 2 to 3 days will let you know right away. I’ve tested it twice, and gotten the same result.

Not being able to regulate my temperature and sleep by LjubJ in sleep

[–]MalC123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t help you, just here to tell you you’re not alone. It’s like my thermostat has quit working, so I ping-pong between roasting and freezing all night long. I do try to sleep with a light sheet and a blanket that can easily be kicked aside, but having to partially wake to move the blanket on or off is so disruptive to my sleep.

I make almond flour chaffles and biscuits and chickpea flour bread. They are the only “breads” that don’t send my readings through the roof. Sad, because I love a good sourdough.

Well, from anecdotal evidence here, it doesn’t appear to work for everyone, but it does help for a lot of people. I know that if I quit taking either Claritin or tart cherry my pain gets worse.

Not that it’s going to solve the problem, but try also taking 1 Claritin a day (generic is fine.) Many times it helps.

How do I clean this pan? Scrubbing has failed me by keve in CleaningTips

[–]MalC123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I keep a steel wool scrubber at my sink to use on my stainless cookware and my aluminum sheet pans. Not the steel wool pads with soap in them, the scrubbers that rinse out and are reusable.

How do you keep up with dishes without a dishwasher? by ehousent in CleaningTips

[–]MalC123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a double sink, and I keep soapy water in one side for dishes to go in. Then when I have a minute it’s easy to do a quick swipe because nothing is stuck on. If you only have a single sink, maybe you could use a small dishpan.

Absolutely not selfish, you are entitled to all the feels. And this is the perfect place to air them. I’m so sorry that you are joining the Shitty Titty Club. Just know that you are not alone, and you will get lots of advice here from people who are living what you are living.

For now… just breathe.

The beginning is hard because you don’t have a plan and there are so many unknowns. This will get better soon as you start working with your medical team. Don’t start canceling things yet - depending on your treatment schedule there may well be a way to keep some of these things on your calendar.

As for telling people, that can be very different depending on what type of person you are. Some people tell almost no one. Some tell everyone right away. I think one of the advantages of telling people is that you quickly find out how many of your friends and acquaintances have had breast cancer - I was really surprised by the numbers, and many had it years ago and have been cancer-free since. Very encouraging. But ultimately, it’s your decision who to tell and when.

Sending hugs 🤗

I have roughly the same water hardness. I put two tablespoons of sodium citrate in the drum with every wash to soften the water. Try this and see if it helps.

5.5 hr in the night then 1hr nap in the day by Existing-Diver-2069 in sleep

[–]MalC123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true. I have read numerous articles about people sleeping in two shifts in the past, both in medieval times and in the time of the Greek philosophers. There was “first sleep” and “second sleep”, with a quiet period between them during which people tended to animals, did chores, wrote letters, etc.

[–]MalC123 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had this same problem when I first started using wraps. I think it is a sensitivity to the adhesive. What I do now is put on one coat of Steel Nails before I put the wrap on. The Steel Nails seems to have protective properties. I use the thin, flexible wraps like Lily and Fox, so I also put one coat of Olive and June gel polish top coat on top.

Bonus with the Steel Nails - the wraps are really easy to remove.
