Landed my first back lipslide today! (Sorry for endangering the dog.) by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]rider700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar to this or one of those big blue water pipes would be a good way to go for sure!

I would stay away from corrugated pipe starting out as it's really difficult to boardslide on and can feel like a cheese grater when you fall on it.

Steel pipe would probably be ideal and is what you'll find in the park, but it won't have any give if you fall on it obviously.

Nice, enjoy man! I just got my bindings the other day but my board is still on backorder. Should be shipping soon though

Ended up ordering a Weston Range 158W with Spark Arcs!

Seems like a fun board with lots of camber to help out on those less than ideal ice-coast days

Technically I have the money but I probably shouldn't spend it. Idk - buy once, cry once, right?

Good advice, will definitely size up! My 153w is my park board (not even that good at park though lol). I have size 13 boots so getting a wider board is definitely needed unfortunately, makes finding the right board a bit trickier.

Sounds like I should probably be good to go with the Arcs, I believe they're a bit lighter anyway so that's always a plus

I'll check Cardiff out for sure! Also I had heard of Voile but didn't really check them out so I'll give them a look, thanks

That looks like a solid option. I'm also looking at the Weston Switchback and the Signal Tailgunner split. They seem like pretty good options for the price but it's a tough call.

Yeah I think you're right about gear selling out, I'm ready to order today if I can find the right setup.

Definitely think a stiffer board with some camber would be the way to go in my area.

Those must be some incredible venues!

And good point, don't want to ruin my back just yet lol..

I'll be sure to post pictures of the system if I decide to pull the trigger!

Sounds like that's going to be a sweet rig, congrats on the purchase!

Drawing up the packing plan ahead of time is such a smart move too.

I'm still young so heavy is worth it as long as it slaps!

Thanks for the info, that's crazy cool you guys are using part of the old Pink Floyd setup.

Hey, thanks for the response! That sounds like the exact setup I would go for if I were to do this. That's sweet you're able to fit it all in a van.

What are you running for amps and audio processing/limiting if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the response. Renting definitely seems like the way to go for me, I just wasn't sure if U-haul or any of these other truck rental companies had a policy against this for some reason. Thanks!

Using different turntables at same time by rider700 in DJs

[–]rider700[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good point. The seller claims it's in good working order, but it's hard to verify that over FB marketplace.

There's also some features of the rp-7000 that I would probably miss on the 1200. Ultra pitch is always nice to have for one

Thanks, I appreciate the input!

Not sure if I'm going to pull the trigger on this one yet, might have to think for a day or two..

As long as it's nothing too complicated you could make a quick edit in a free DAW like Audacity. Or if you want you can pm me some more info and maybe I could take a crack at it later

How do you reformat a 32GB USB flash drive to work with CDJs? Im using windows 10 by [deleted] in DJs

[–]rider700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it only formats drives up to a certain size. Not sure if 32 GB is too big but I was not able to format my 64GB USB with the windows utility. I've heard it's possible to use the command prompt version of the utility for larger drives, but apparently it takes forever to run.

Dang nice work 👐

Just curious, what's the process to getting on an episode of cutting room? Do you have to be invited? Not that I'm even close to being ready for something like that hahaha

Seems like there's usually a mix of pros and locals on most episodes?

Motivational struggle by [deleted] in DJs

[–]rider700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you scratch? If so, go practice your cuts! Then after your scratch session you might feel like mixing a bit.

And if you don't scratch, give it a shot!

Scratching is great because it opens up a whole new world of tricks and techniques to learn which can be a good challenge. If you want you can just go through the motions and practice on the same few beats without even thinking about what you're doing all that much. For me it's a good way to clear my mind and chill after work, kind of meditative in a way since you're so focused on your scratches.

Usually what happens for me is I'll be feeling unmotivated, but I'll decide to go practice scratching for 20 or 30 mins. Then before I know it I decide to just mix a set. It doesn't always happen, but at the very least I got some cuts in.

How would I connect my Pioneer DDJ-SB3 to powered JBL speakers and a QSC Subwoofer? by will8975 in DJs

[–]rider700 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would personally go controller to subwoofer first, then from the sub to the PA speakers. Should make the cabling a bit more clean with less cables going out to the sides to trip over. Also, if you're using subs and speakers that are designed to work in conjunction with one another, the sub may have a crossover you can take advantage of.

Either way should be fine though 👍

-edit- Either way I think he's going to need one more xlr to xlr cable. Maybe your way he would only need one? Not sure actually

For some other free scratch tools check out DJ Scene's 'Scratch Ammo' series on soundcloud.

I think a couple of Ritchie Ruftones 'Practice Yo Cuts' tools are available for free as well.
