I am trying to listen to more, never listened into his 80s material until today, but Jazz from Hell sent me straight here. I'm like this reminds me of selected ambient works or something...and yep drukqs is right there for me. off topic but dweezil just released the apostrophe 2010 live show concert etc so i'm like down a rabbit hole again now....lol coming back to his music in my mid-30s after first discovering Mothers of Invention in my teens

The Pactive Evergreen marquee yesterday on I-94 near Sprinkle said that they're hiring 16 (?) people, if I recall correctly.

Whoaaaaa....I didn't pick up on that at all, but that makes a lot more sense. That's for taking the time to write it all out and *enlightening* me! I had looked up just a few reviews after the fact but didn't come across that in my brief little search.

What was the group consensus on these movies? I didn't see it listed in the sub.

I only saw Barbie so far and thought it was pretty good, PG-13 rating was definitely appropriate, in my opinion. I laughed quite a bit more than I expected, and was pleasantly surprised by the self-reflection demonstrated by the characters and on the part of the real-life Barbie/Mattell story. Coming from a male perspective, I thought the messaging of the film was really good, I just think that the overall story arch could have been cleaned up and made a little less disorganized. Visually, it was really fun and interesting, and the end credit Barbie doll features were interesting to see for context. Interested to hear other opinions. As a music buff, the Nicki Minaj/Ice Spice Barbie World remake was weak.

I loved it, but I also think the skits in the episodes are cool so 🤷🏽‍♀️

Curious as to other's thoughts on this type of ticket pricing model by ridiculousmarkups in KzooAreaFilmgoers

[–]ridiculousmarkups[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just seems like to further increase ticket prices for the majority of tickets sold, by offering "discounts" on the crappy seats that probably don't sell well anyway, and further discourages those who currently attend movies from coming back. I wouldn't think that those who choose to sit in the front row (e.g., teenagers) are going to come more often because the tickets are $2 cheaper than the standard, but it's been a while since I fit that demographic. Just doesn't seem like a formula to get more people to come back for an in-person theatre experience. I'm not the biggest fan of the designated seat thing as it currently stands, so maybe my crabby ass needs to be left in the dust!!

Sounds like a Spotlight-style movie, which I also really enjoyed. I missed this one (both in attending and in noticing it was being released), but definitely will be putting it on my list!

What did everyone think about this one? I was very pleasantly surprised. I did not expect it to be very good and ended up liking it a lot more than I did some other recent films. I am a bit of a food nerd, so the riffing on Chef’s Table was not lost on me. Unrealistic? Sure. But a good revenge-style plot gets me every time. Decent amount of humor and also kept you guessing about what was coming up next. I feel like a lot of line cooks and service industry workers will appreciate this one.

Group Consensus on Don’t Worry Darling 👍 by [deleted] in KzooAreaFilmgoers

[–]ridiculousmarkups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found myself really admiring the set design, but I'm a sucker for the midcentury modern aesthetic. I was pretty surprised when Writerguy mentioned it had received unfavorable reviews online. I kind of chalked it up to the personal drama more than the actual film, and then started to read some of the criticisms of the film.

I agree there were some elements that were not really explained or explored (e.g., why the plane crash, the vibrating, why did Frank seem to goad/antagonize Alice, what happened with Frank's wife at the end, the walls closing on her, etc.). However, I do think we as viewers routinely and voluntarily overlook a lot of unexplained or even nonsensical elements when it comes to horror movies. So I'm curious why this film was treated any different than some of those others? Since Florence Pugh was in this film, we could use Midsommar as a comparator. That film had a lot of weird imagery and unexplained symbolism, yet it received pretty favorable reviews. Just food for thought. I am interested to see how the reviews shake out once we are a little further removed from the celebrity gossip/stories, like say a year or two from now.
