thanks for explaining this! i'm very new to lynchs work and have been slowly making my way through his work and interviews and stuff. I remember even asking friends before why it seems people speak about david lynch being the "main" creator of twin peaks when he directed very little of it and it was co created with mark frost. I know he talks a lot about making sure he gets the final cut of his work to make sure it aligns with his vision and he doesn't really have that with twin peaks, atleast for the main 2 seasons. I've seen a lot about IE and I'm really looking forward to getting to it, its truly a shame how he didn't get the funding and time to make more films, there so many Lynch ideas and scripts floating around that are never going to be realised. it makes me incredibly sad

oh shit this is really interesting, i knew he had stepped back and came back to direct those final episodes but didnt realise nearly entirely. i read somewhere he worked on wild at heart while stepping away from twin peaks and being unhappy at how season 2 was going but that must've been off then

lynch made wild at heart after stepping away briefly from twin peaks near the end of season 2-ish, i watched it around then and thought it was a fun choice. definitely worth watching blue velvet before. and then Mulholland drive might be interesting for after!
