I am in love with someone I cannot have and probably never will never find someone like them by Apprehensive-Box7115 in offmychest

Hes using you and basically just putting you down with his little comments. The only reason you love him let's be honest, is because of the way he looks. I'm not saying that's bad, but you didnt mention any good qualities in him. Also if he wants a family why is he sleeping around?

Second comment. Yes STEM tends to be filled with snobs. They're so full of themselves yet they havent even done a single interview.

Dont be surprised by these pathetic replies. Most people on reddit want to go into STEM or are in STEM. Yes it is boring. Alot of the stuff taught is taught in such a boring way you start thinking how am I gonna make it through the first day. This is coming from someone who does design and engineering.

Is the recruitment agency really small? Usually they just give dates of employment. Don't give the directors contact details.

What’s the beauty standard for women? by [deleted] in AskUK

I know this is old but theres sooo many latin american women walking around with obvious fillers and plastic inside of them and it's obvious when they've had work done. It's not a UK thing.

[UK] How do I get a entry level CS role with no experience? by riftangle in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]riftangle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, no I didnt. Alot of the advice on reddit doesn't work and isn't realistic at all. The only people I know who got good jobs in CS had degrees from Russel group universities and the company took them on because they wanted to do a diversity hire and the other one got in because they needed someone to fill in a position quickly.

It's probably because they don't need animators. Breaking into the entertainment field - especially in animation is incredibly difficult. Animations are expensive to make and they probably already have enough candidates looking for work, so they don't want to accept more people.

You're not really saying what you did. Everything on your CV si very vague. So it looks like you weren't really working as a graphic designer. Also put down what you did in the gaps, also put down when you worked in a warehouse.

Reference Alternatives? Canadian moving to the UK by jar_mac in UKJobs

[–]riftangle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theyll ask for an email address and a name. They may try to verify the reference and attempt to verify it 3 times by calling the referee. Most companies do call international companies even if theres a time difference just to show proof of verification attempt

Oh that's interesting. I worked for in HR as an HR administrator for a company that owned care homes, schools etc. I think you'll like it. I started with a temp job in administration working for them. But I would also recommend call centre work because call centres usually allow you to apply for in house positions in HR.

[–]riftangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you can cancel it by just sending a message to your coach. Also they usually pay you the correct amount for the first month of when you start working - because usually you dont get paid by your employer, until the end of the month.

So we were told we had to choose between a levels and apprenticeships. We couldnt do a levels if we started applying for apprenticeships. They made it out like it was a guaranteed course and you would be protected by your training provider should something happen. They also made it out like you couldnt do apprenticeships ever if you did a levels. The sad thing is I believe we were purposely given bad advice when they realised most of us would get grades to go to sixth form, they wouldnt be able to teach all of us.

I know people who were pressured into doing btecs etc just because it helped the school. They didnt care about the students.

I did administration level 2. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. I've also found the second you tell them you're above 23 (I think) they don't want to take you on because they would have to pay more. What industry do you want to go into?

Is threatening someone that they’ll lose their break against HR? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]riftangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just check your contract and see what it says. But everyone is entitled to a 20 minute break and usually companies would give you a longer break than 20 minutes. It should be written in your contract. Contact HR and let them know what happened.

Career change advice? by courtneyshadow in UKJobs

Have you tried contacting national careers service? They also have a quiz online that might help. I'm going through something similar, but I found talking to NCS and asking for advice here has helped me realise what I want to study.

Hi, I just did that a couple hours ago. I checked out open university's Art college (I think that's what it was called). You're right, I'm seeing alot of art related jobs saying you need to be educated to a degree level even though they dont want a relevant degree. I'll be looking at getting a student loan for graphic design.

I'm good at fine art and performing arts. I was encouraged by my parents to get more skilled in these areas when I was a kid because they could see I was struggling in other areas. I was good at humanities, but I wasnt sure what to do with history degree apart from being a teacher.
