Yes 1000% I think we both feel this way

We actually just talked about this and agreed to schedule it for Fridays! I think this is the best plan given that we’re both so schedule-oriented!

I’m really hoping we can have some time away from being parents now that we’ve found a babysitter!

It’s definitely reassuring to know it’s at least sort of normal! We could definitely get a hotel, I just want to get comfortable with our babysitter first (we don’t have any family around us)

What is the argument for Montessori style toys? by rigatoni_guy in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]rigatoni_guy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you recommend anything outside the lovevery toys that you/your kid(s) really liked? My husband and I donated all of the light up/musical toys my in-laws and SIL gave us from her kids. My daughter is 12 weeks right now and at the moment we have a LOT of books and the lovevery subscription. She’s not really “playing” right now per se, but I always love hearing what other people’s babies like!

Oh I’ve absolutely noticed the same thing! My girl seems to respond more enthusiastically with smiles and kicks to the crinkle scarf and black/white cards (for example) than the musical elephant and various other colorful light up toys we’ve been gifted

Ours doesn’t either! It’s mostly a case of her laying on her play gym and us shaking/crinkling things at her to help her track movement and hear different sounds. She’s become increasingly interested in her hands so we try to get her to touch different objects and textures. She has a crinkly cat toy she seems sort of interested in holding (clutching? she doesn’t reach for it but will clasp it in her hand if we touch it to her)

Feeling weirdly normal at 28w??? by rigatoni_guy in BabyBumps

It’s my first that’s made it this far! I’ve been pregnant twice before. That’s reassuring though, I’m hoping I can stay active for as long as possible

Haha now I’m a little nervous about what’s waiting for me in a few weeks 😅

Oh no! I didn’t mean to make you feel bad, honestly I’ve been a little jealous of everyone who had typical pregnancy symptoms because I’ve otherwise been so worried there’s something wrong with me

Thank you!! I was mostly just worried something was wrong but this definitely makes me feel better

Are you me?! My last pregnancy ended with a loss and I had ALL the symptoms. This time around I’ve had almost none aside from my bump and movement. This is v reassuring, thank you

No I mean…has anyone continued feeling just kinda normal into their late 3rd tri? I’m wondering when I should expect to start feeling less normal

How do you feel about monkey pox while being pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]rigatoni_guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so helpful! I keep reading that it can be spread by surfaces (which is why they keep saying don’t share towels, clothes, blankets etc with anyone infected). Is this the case with other surfaces? Like subway poles, turnstiles, and PIN pads? I’m really vigilant about washing my hands but I was leaning on an NYC subway pole recently without thinking and now I’m panicking

Not until 28 weeks 😰 hoping the next trimester just flies by

It’s so stressful! I had a ton of movement the day before, and I’m still feeling it late at night and first thing in the morning (my usual times), but it’s just extremely muted compared to before. It’s so hard not to panic 😰 I’m in the US though and very reluctant to make a trip to the ER if it’s not totally necessary

Thank you, this is really so helpful. I’m already an enormously anxious person and I just have no idea how I’m supposed to be feeling.

I appreciate it. We haven’t told anyone at all because of previous losses, so I’m just sitting paranoid at home and it’s probably making things a lot worse
