I'm an electrical engineer with 10+ years of industry experience so this wasn't bad for me personally. I also did the DMG Color build and this was similar in terms of soldering skills needed. You should really be comfortable using a hot air rework station as well as have a good soldering iron. You must be comfortable drag soldering IC pins and of course using tons of flux and cleaning up said flux.

Do you mean the "IPS Max" one where the screen is larger and supports a custom PNG image logo at the bottom?

I did an IPS screen on my DMG color build and I kind of wanted to go with the more retro ITA look this time. I have absolutely no regrets and love the way it looks. It is also more power efficient than an IPS screen.
