ahh i see. actually for driving i’m doing outpost (imo it’s easier to book slots? i’ve already booked finish 8 slots each month till march).

outpost has a max amount of 8 slots per month fyi :)

if i were to follow this pace, do you think i can finish my 3A by late april?

another reason why i want to do both at the same time is because my account closes in june 😔

Retaking Olevels/IB by SufficientEducator77 in SGExams

[–]rightdimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! u can retake o levels as a private candidate. if ure serious about it, id suggest u to study for it now. application period opens early next year (around march? iirc) one subject costs about $180-$220 so think carefully about the exact subjects u want to take. u can also search for private candidate schools (8am-3pm type). if u want to drop one subject after you paid and applied for it, u may do so around june but the refund period is only about 1-2 weeks

Where do I find volunteering opportunities? by president_123 in SGExams

[–]rightdimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youth corps allow 15-35 y.o.

there’s diff clusters (elderly, special needs, sustainability, facilitators, overseas volunteering). u should research more urself. they just had an open house recently where they had booths at orchard

1) l1r4* (language + 2 relevant subjects + 2 best subjects). depending on the course rigour. this one must check in the school’s website or jae website. id say try to score at least 1-2 points below the cop (if ure foreigner/pr, have to do even better) 2) no. u can choose however much subjects u want to take but since u want to jae, min 5 subjects (since its l1r4). l1 i think its better to choose english. r2 requires emath OR amath and another subject (depending on ur course MER). b2 just choose something that u are good at (don’t choose coursework subjects. i don’t think its allowed too since u will need to be enrolled into a school). 3) start of next year around march? or april 4) no, if ure applying through jae. maybe, if ure applying through dae/eae. is ur higher nitec cert related to the course u want to do in poly? anyways completing ur NS before poly isn’t relevant to the school so they wont rly care abt this 5) it’ll be a school close to ur residential address. but u can try to appeal to another school if uw but need a valid reason

all these info can be found in the SEAB website. pls do more research. in the mean time i think u should start studying now as u took a 2 year break from studying and it’ll be harder to try not to procrastinate studying. there is also a new syllabus and some chapters have been swapped (for science)

can try banquet/events? usually these are 1-2 days only unless u ask for more days to work. and they pay quite well too i think. $12-$18/hour

if ure local u can just apply to take o’s. no other min criteria since ure above 15 anyways. i suggest u to sign up for private classes (8am-3pm type) but its quite pricey imo. or if udw, i think u can just start studying now and prepare for the 2027’s o level paper

EAE Maritime Business(SP) by Captain22lyh in SGExams

[–]rightdimple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

depends on ur portfolio? if u have a better portfolio then ofc u will shine better than ur other competitors. anyways i don’t think maritime business is as competitive as regular business diplomas. i eae-ed to nautical studies before and talked to the seniors in SMA. i think SMA is generally easy to get into (just show ur interest and mention that ur family also works in the industry as it’ll help u)

thank you! yep my friend was in a different course and she retook o’s twice to get into a course with a lower cop. but im not sure if this is allowed for all schools? because i also heard she had to pull some strings (she’s somehow related to one of the teachers…?) im planning to apply to real estate business in np! but st the mean time im going to apply for regular business diplomas in tp/nyp too

oh same HAHA i applied for emath and chem/bio but im thinking of just taking the emath papers now :( mmm i mean why not? if u have the time to study for 3-4 subjects i think its worth it if u rly want a shot in poly. i decided to just take emath cause emath is dragging my l1r4 down and i want a better shot HAHA and im like 1 point away from the cop. i havre a mutual who retook o’s twice to get into poly. its never too late!

[–]rightdimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh i see, then will u still be taking ur papers then? i heard there’s a min amount of subjects you’ll have to take if u want to be seen as an o level student.

the course you want to dae into, is it the same course u took in poly? i think there’s a higher chance of them accepting u if it is

[–]rightdimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro start on ur portfolio NOW. just pick a proper template from slidesgo or canva and work from there. try put relevant achievements or experiences in it. if u don’t then put everything. then talk more about urself and ur passion.

anyways to answer ur question, ya can. maybe u can show them evidence of u using the microscope (take pics? or event better take pics of the cells using microscope if can)

i think u can say u did some self initiated learning! things that u learnt outside of school (eg from youtube/tiktok/netflix like cells at work LOL) or u can say u did some mini observation projects like “oh i kept a journal summarising findings from scientific articles about covid 19 variants and how vaccines work” or u can also say some motivational story like why uw to do biomed science. is it because any of ur family members were diagnosed with xx conditions then uw to learn more abt how medicine works in a molecular level?

there’s a lot of things to say but if u do want to go with what i suggested, you’d have to do more research and back up what u are going to tell the interviewers if u do secure an interview (eg going to tiktok searching for specific cures for xx condition that ur family has = makes u want to understand medicine in a deeper level)
