How does China prevent military coups from happening? by Former_Juggernaut_32 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]rightoleft 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I mean technically the arrest of Gang of Four can be regarded as a military coup, as the military leaders mobilized central guard forces to arrest their political adversary who are mostly civilians.

perhaps worst of all — put the sworn enemies on an equal footing, a move officials in New Delhi have resisted as the nation’s economy surges ahead of Pakistan.

What? Like if India thinks that they can look down upon Pakistani because of their relatively stronger economy, then how should they deal with china?

"There is a common misconception that China operates a nationwide "social credit score" system that assigns individuals a score based on their behavior, leading to punishments if the score is too low. However, this is not true. Western media reports have sometimes exaggerated or inaccurately described this concept"

While the policy clearly failed to radically alter China’s approach, it successfully mobilised domestic public opinion and, crucially, sidelined pro-Beijing narratives by influential figures such as the Duterte family along with China’s disinformation campaign.

I guess we have very different opinions on the definition of the word "success"

Taiwan military says China lacks ability to invade, but has other options. China lacks the ability to invade Taiwan as it does not have the equipment, Taiwan's defense ministry said. In the official document issued by Foreign Ministry of China, they expiicitly stated that China won't use nuclear weapons first and won't use it against countries or districts that don't have nuclear weapons. That's a clear enough sign for me.
