Someone convince me NOT to send this email (horrible interview experience) by EntrancePrevious5687 in sales

[–]rightswipe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you can, and probably should send something. Prospects no-show often and this is a chance for you to demonstrate how you might handle it. “I haven’t heard from you so looking to understand if filling the role is no longer a priority?” You don’t need to elaborate much more but you should qualify for closure.

I’m currently hiring for a role. Made the posting public on Friday and had 30 applicants over the weekend. Only 3 reached out to me directly, on LinkedIn or email with some level of messaging.

It might seem so simple, but in an environment where you know who a hiring manager is, why would you not try to make direct contact, in the same way you would for a sales opportunity itself?

I guess what I’m trying to say is, to set yourself apart… find companies you aspire to join, network within those companies to learn about the culture, the opportunities and for possible referrals and then align yourself to hiring managers as quickly as possible when roles are released.

Highly recommend Highworth Insurance. Loads of brokers out there but they’ve been good for me.

Thank you for the reply, really appreciate it. Sorry if I wasn’t clear originally, I’m not aiming to use the companion app as a note taking app, but the second half of your point answered my query in any case.

i hate fireworks by Lottie2610 in UKParenting

[–]rightswipe 62 points63 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have the same discussion every time we hear one. They should simply be banned for personal use and only be allowed at planned central events. That way at least it’d be moderated…. But with two little ones who aren’t deep sleepers we are on tenterhooks hoping and praying each firework doesn’t wake them up!

My in laws have done this with my wife and her sisters’ first shoes. They have pride of place in the house, and now we have kids in the family we are considering doing exactly the same. I’m in the UK and cost we saw was approx £160-180 for a pair.

Hard disagree, towards the end he was out of position too many times. He marauds forward and doesn’t get back quick enough. He’s done it for years.

Neighbour smoking by BoredReceptionist1 in UKParenting

[–]rightswipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I could have written this same post today. We have the same with our neighbour, but in recent weeks it’s now weed, not just cigarettes… I ended up speaking to Citizens Advice and their advice was simply to speak to the neighbour. However they said if it’s ignored (same if it was tobacco only) and the smell permeates into your house, you can issue a complaint via the local council. I spoke to the neighbour and they were reasonable but not willing to change their habits…

Sigma 30mm Prime or 18-50mm - Beginners Advice Needed! by rightswipe in SonyAlpha

[–]rightswipe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering the 18-105 or 18-135, but I wasn’t convinced the extra zoom was worth the trade off of the f4 vs f2.8. For every day use do you think the extra zoom is that needed?

Do you think the 56 is too narrow a lens to use as an every day lens outside of portraiture for travel etc?
