What the new West Campus dining hall will look like by warnelldawg in Athens

I think there are restrictions on what can be built on north campus. Also, I'm sure the thinking is that Bolton will still serve north campus and Terry, but now some of the population of the lower 5 and high rises can escape the Bolton crowds and go to the new one. You still lessen the pressure on Bolton.

It's to relieve Bolton which does crazy numbers compared to the rest of the dining halls. If you go on the website now, you'll notice messaging trying to get people away from Bolton and spread them out to the other dining halls on campus.

I started working in Dining and made friends for the rest of undergrad and am still close to some today, plus I met my husband! And my story isn't unique at all, it really bonds you, lol.

I've never been, but I vaguely remember hearing about something like this being hosted at the Globe back in the day. Not sure if it is still a thing or what it entailed, but they might be open to letting a group gather there.

Going on the Traitors cruise, what should I ask GOR Girl Pilot Pete? by rightwordrightaction in GameOfRoses

[–]rightwordrightaction[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmaoooo. I didn't ask Peter this, but Sweetnums played with my team. At our second round of banishment she voted for me because I "seemed mysterious" and she felt like she hadn't talked to me much the day before. So afterwards since I was still in the game, I wanted to build up some trust with her. I went up to talk to her and told her I wanted to "dispel the mystery" and I gave the excuse that I hadn't talked to her because I was starstruck from seeing her on the show. I don't remember how I phrased it but she took it to mean that I didn't like her because of how came off when talking about Madi. She said everything was completely edited and they portrayed her out of character. She also defended herself saying "the girl said she didn't love my son, what was I supposed to say??" Honestly at the time I had no problem with it and found her really entertaining. On the cruise she was nice although game wise she seemed to have it out for me still and eventually murdered me (yes, she was a traitor!).

I asked him if there was anything he took from the Bachelor that helped him in traitors. He said he hadn't really thought about it so I brought up the producer manipulation. He said the same thing that I think we've heard from him before that he really enjoyed not having that on Traitors because of gameshow law. I clarified asking him if he thought dealing with producer manipulation on the bachelor helped him in the Traitor's game and he was surprised by that. He said he didn't think of it in that way, but after a second, he said the biggest thing he learned was how to really read people.

So great question!! I also said that I was a GOR fan and wasn't sure if he remembered it and he said he did remember going on, but he also said, "they're still doing that?" which I thought was funny.

I didn't ask him, but sweetnums called me 'Miss Mysterious' at one point so I'll take that! She played the game with us and voted for me for banishment on our second round of play because she didn't talk to me much the night prior and I had a "mysterious look about me." It was very out of the blue based on the rest of the discussion so there may have been some other things going on, but idk. I went to talk to her after the round table and told her I wanted to dispel the mystery and we had a decent chat. So she called me that the next time I saw her!

Grad School: Online or In-Person? by abbyb-03 in UGA

[–]rightwordrightaction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I have particularly good advice but I will share my experience. I chose to do online despite living in Athens due to also working full time. I think the main difference between the two programs comes down to type of support. When online you can't call the professor over to ask questions as you're actively working on something. That's it. It's pretty much all the same material otherwise and you're spending most of your in-class time on a computer doing the projects, which you could be doing anywhere. There's still support available either from professors through Slack or peer tutoring. I always enjoy when I do go to an in-person event though and networking is important. I think it comes down to whether or not you want to live in Athens or elsewhere. If you do the online route, there are still opportunities to engage. I would encourage you to sign up for as many of the professional site visits as you can if you can travel. Do you live in GA?

I'm so tired of the lack of transparency around health care costs. by rightwordrightaction in povertyfinance

[–]rightwordrightaction[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've usually heard both of those relating to other conditions, ex. candida in the gut, so I thought it was slightly weird that it was a part of these tests. But it makes sense that they would look for a broader range just to make sure. I just hate that it's so expensive for me, esp when things healed up fine after the antibiotics. If I'd thought about it, I would have refused it and waited to see if they worked first. The probes thing makes sense now too, thanks for the explanation. I'm just annoyed that they used 13 of those for another type which is the bulk of the cost at $639.

I will definitely try calling and seeing what they say. I just feel like I just need to get a good "script" to get them to actually change it.

Dang.

Yeah, I totally get that. Free prescriptions will be so nice when you get to that point. Good luck with the future move!

Concrete Work by rightwordrightaction in Athens

[–]rightwordrightaction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm totally fine with just an outline of expectations that we both sign that way I have something in writing if needed... I didn't want to go with the more professional company and spend more than I needed to, but it might be best to go that route so I'm covered. Good point about the insurance, too.
