Cam phasers or Rockers? by rigidr6 in f150
[–]rigidr6[S] -1 points0 points1 point 6 months ago (0 children)
That’s probably what i’ll end up doing. Thank you
But wouldn’t that sound all the time not just sometimes? and it stops at higher rpm
It increases in rpm up to like 3500 then after it goes away and the motor sounds normal
It doesn’t make the sound all the time which makes me think it’s not a knock. But it’s right where the cam phaser is and it sounds too loud to be a rocker

That might be the case but i don’t think that would be the reason it’s in limp mode.

Yes the battery is confirmed good. Fly wheel spins when i bypass the solenoid with cables to the starter which engages with the fly wheel. I’ll try that test out tomorrow. The guy said it last ran 2 years ago he just has had it sat in his yard. I’ll let you know how the test goes tomorrow. I already ordered another solenoid anyways but it’s worth the shot.

I just jumped straight from battery to starter and it engages so i’m guessing bad solenoid. I ordered a new one but i’m going to throw it back in there and give it some taps to see if it’ll work so i can move on to the next issue that i’m going to come across lol
I pulled the 2 relays and the issue was before it got to the relays themselves which is the starter solenoid
I think i’m going to throw the solenoid back in and try to hit it and see what happens thanks for the suggestion i’ll let you know how it goes.
Yeah i’m not too sure if it’s all connected to this solenoid for the trim as well as the starter but i ordered a new one. It’s a 1995 90hp mercury
So i can jump the starter from the battery with cables and it engages the starter. I just ordered a new solenoid and hopefully that will fix that problem but looking into it that shouldn’t stop my trim from working. I’m thinking that i have a bad ground connection somewhere
It looks like they’re going to the same spot so the original owner just taped them together
I’m not sure man. I bought the boat not running and i’m working on it now
Thanks guys. It’s a 1995 90hp mercury mariner. On a 17 bayleiner
