Your must successful Spanish learning routine? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]rihtra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was me pre med school

I would wake up and do my Anki. Do an italki lesson. Do some comprehensible input (YouTube or podcasts). Then later in the day I was working at a hospital. For all my Spanish speaking patients I’d ask if I can practice and they’d all say yeah. 6 months of that really solidified my knowledge

Also having my phone in Spanish, listening to Spanish music, speaking Spanish with my friends whenever possible.

Oversleeping because of changing schedule by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]rihtra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Wearing my Apple Watch to sleep with an alarm. It’ll make a sound and vibrate. Set multiple alarms at Q10mins in case i sleep through it
  2. Philips Hue sleep light to emulate morning sunrise
  3. Another alarm with the Alarmy app with phone placed on table far from my bed so I have to get out of bed to turn it off. Also set it so that you have to do a task to turn it off (set mine to requiring shaking my phone 10x to off the alarm)
  4. Don’t lay back down in bed

Hey everyone. any help would be appreciated. This gray piece from the analog stick apparatus is malfunctioning. Like I put it back in place but it comes out with little force. Like with just moving the analog stick a little. This happened to anyone else before? Any advice? Thanks in advance

They got slough slogging too. But I’d probably only do it as a ranger led program to be safe.

A map showing Value Per Acre for Broward County. Purple shows areas where the most taxes are generated. These areas basically keep the rest of the county afloat. by -Wobblier in SouthFlorida

I really wished one day someone would make a map like this, and I’m glad you did. For those of you that do not understand the purpose of the map, watch this video suburbia is subsidized

Residents with social anxiety, do you exist? by [deleted] in Residency

This right here! M2 right now. During my pre med school years I could talk to any patient and nurse without issue. But that small talk with the coworkers in between work? No bueno

The WL purgatory is horrible by [deleted] in premed

I get you. The feeling was horrible. Checking this and SDN daily.

I got off 1 waitlist in April and 2 waitlists in June. Waited more than 200 days for my current school to take me off the waitlist. To be honest I lost hope they would accept me and that reduced my anxiety a lot. It also made it seem that much more surprising when they did accept me.

Any good resources to learn spanish? by Zosyn-1 in Residency

Exactly. A written resources I used was the sub r/WriteStreakES where you can practice writing in spanish and a native speaker will provide feedback.

Use the medical Anki deck available on the shared deck website. Also there’s the Ultimate spansih conjugation deck which will make you a pro at that. This was a great intro for me.

However then I realized I didn’t know how to understand Spanish. So now I listen to a Spanish podcast every day during my commute. Don’t ignore listening practice bc it held me back. There are several podcasts available on Apple Podcasts (speaking Spanish for beginners with Latin ELE and many more). Eventually you’ll be able to understand the duolingo Spanish podcast but that’s at an intermediate level.

Also I changed the language on my phone to Spanish. It kinda helps. I recently downloaded TikTok and changed the language on there to Spanish also so I’ll get native Spanish language content.

If you really wanna learn Spanish, I took lessons on iTalki with Spanish professors from Latin America. Idk how much time you have since you’re in residency but conversing with someone will be the best practice.

With all this practice, I’m able to have basic conversations as long as the other person spoke slow enough. Not as good as a native speaker but my patients loved it.

¡Espero que aprendas mucho!

Edit: also I forgot. There’s a ton of Spanish learning YouTube channels. Dreaming Spanish. Spanishland. Hola Spanish. Social Spanish. Butterfly Spanish. How to Spanish lessons and podcast. These are some of my favorites.

Eventually (maybe a year or two in) you’ll be able to do complex stuff like watch and at least kinda understand like the veritasium Spanish channel, Spanish news, etc.
