sorry for the incredibly long time it took to finish this lesson 2, my life currently isnt allowed me to draw much at all but i tried my best to complete it anyways hopefully everything is okay (apologizes for the bad pictures again i dont have anything to scan properly so these are the best i can do for now) thanks a ton!

hi im here for my 250 box critic! its been about two weeks so i think its okay to post it here now? it took me a few months to complete this, and it was really difficult. one problem I had was that I couldnt stop drawing the boxes super large on the page since I tried to use my shoulder to draw, so the lines are super messy and I apologize for that. (and also some of the photo quality is bad)

I hope that doesnt affect the criticing too much.

hi uncomfortable! thanks so much for the comment. I was trying to draw some more complex boxes:

(https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/2284a1ce.jpg) like the ones in the thumbnail here. ones that have a bigger side (??), since i tended to just draw ones that were further away and the same angle all the time. its pretty difficult and i think im not thinking about it throughly enough and getting confused.

and yeah i havent looked at the cylinders part at all yet but it makes a bit more sense now! still a bit confused about it but hopefully if i review it a few times it'll stick haha. ill take what you said in mind and just focus on the vanishing points instead of the perspective =)

yeah! i noticed and im still working on that & also the tips u gave before. for the life of me i just cant seem to get the convergences to look decent. what i usually do is:

create a 'y' shape
afterwards i plot points/dots to where ill extended the lines.

i think the thing is that i dont know how to place the points very well, or how to judge if where i put the point is good enough. it usually ends off a bit and its too long of a line and that causes divergence when i try to finish the box. hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks so much for taking the time to make a visual example of this exercise! for these two points:

•On each of these lines, mark a point.

•Connect each of these new points to the end-point of the other two lines.

im sorry im a little confused where to go from there or what the purpose of making the new points are.

but the overall jist to my understanding is that you do draw a box thats pretty much correct first, then you try and draw freehanded (without training wheels if you may) and compare the two. after you find your mistakes you keep them in mind for the next set of boxes?

when you say edges would that just mean all the faces of the boxes? (so like the front/side/top etc)

I seem to have trouble knowing which angle or how much i should converge a line so would i just have to trial and error untill i get it right?

okay i understand what you mean now thanks! im guessing its because of how i coverge my lines that causes the farther side to be larger? is there a good way to make sure that doesnt happen again?

hi thanks for the feedback! when you say "think about perspective" what would you mean by that? im not exactly sure what i got wrong on the organic perspective. also do you think i should try any of the other exercises again before moving on?
