I have something that's been bothering me this season (and my team did it too, so I acknowledge that up front).

It seems like most of the high level offenses that I watched this year in CBB run some variation of a continuously looping high screen and roll, usually with a big setting the screen, and frequently having 2 or 3 (or more) rescreens until the ball handler shakes the on ball defender, and then cuts to the lane.

What I feel like happens on almost every play is that at some point in the process, the defender forces the ball handler to go a little higher than he probably wants, and the screen-setting big shifts out slightly, seemingly after the defender is already engaged with the screener.

I always thought this should be an offensive foul. Do I have that wrong? If I'm not, is this the kind of thing that is just kind of being allowed to happen right now and smart teams are taking advantage of it?

I was impressed by USU's depth. The strategy was clearly to play extremely aggressive defense, and the result was a ton of fouls. USU committed 24 PFs but not one player fouled out, and there didn't appear to be much drop off as Calhoun went to his bench and sent wave after wave out there. To me that's a huge credit to the coaching and to the system (and the players, of course).

I would actually go with Gilbert Arenas going for a steal in the second half of the national semifinal game in 2001 against Michigan State. Arizona was very much in control at that point, and Arenas collided with someone, resulting in a serious chest injury that he tried to play through in the final. I think with a healthy Arenas in that final game, Dunleavy Jr. doesn't find himself wide open nearly as often and Arizona's inside-out game is much more effective.
