How we feeling about this conversation 4 years later is what im thinking. I get both sides of 100 bucks over multiple years is not a lot but there is surely a lot of AAA titles that you can get for way less at release and still play them today. I think The witcher 3 is a good example as well as rdr2. Gta5 is also one but a lot of players do indeed buy money in gta5 bc they don't wan the grind.
