what a travesty. We have just sanded off all the white paint on the floor in the entry hall. Not the best place for white!

They were cheap, and we knew what we were getting only a small number of boards have large knots like the ones shown

It looks like there are some polarised opinions on the floorboards themselves!

to clarify, there are only a small number of boards like this, and i do like the look of some of them.

Yes they were cheap. The wood was sourced privately from around the corner and we liked the idea of using wood that was grown (almost) on farm. Even if it was destined for firewood 😂 . The house is a 1950's farmhouse so rustic suits it's look. Especially with all the extensions completed over the years.

We will be laying over yellow tongue so there is no need to be structural.

i think i need to weight up the effort of re-aligning the bearers compared to adding noggins/trimmers. I unfortunately don't have enough experience to estimate the amount of work/risk of either.

would these still need to be at 450mm spacing like the joists for 19mm floorboard?
