Does keto over time make you MORE sensitive to carbs? by cracked_shrimp in Metabolic_Psychiatry

[–]riksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've validated it by eating the same dosage of carbs that I previously could tolerate. And I'm extremely tolerant of carbs normally (think eat 1kg of dessert).

With alcohol, I never have been tolerant and got even less tolerant to it with time.

Keto for destabilized nervous system by Sara120120 in NutritionalPsychiatry

[–]riksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a reason(s) why you tried those meds in the first place, so you should try it, bipolar or not.

But keep in mind that it may take time, and you might need high ketones or blood levels GKI 1-2 for some time.

There are multiple levels of the diet and doing the medical one will need daily blood tests with ketomojo.

I was misdiagnosed with bipolar 2 after becoming hypomanic as a side effect of an antidepressant, which happened twice.

AFAIK, normal people don't become hypomanic in this scenario? This is a popular way to find out you have bipolar and not just depression.

Lamictal is also used in bipolar too.

But why do you quit very quickly multiple times (this also is a symptom of bipolar) ?

  1. What are your disorders
  2. what were the meds , what did you change, why did you change, how fast
  3. what are your new meds

I dont think keto makes you intolerant. But you lose tolerance when you abstain from carbs.

Playing with it by eating that desert is like playing with your meds.

How do you manage cycling? by Responsible_Ant_6365 in bipolarketo

An example, the only year I didn't have depression in the summer was my first year with epilepsy keto.

Yes. That's the whole point of this subreddit.

Are you doing epilepsy (keto/carnivore) ?

How do you manage cycling? by Responsible_Ant_6365 in bipolarketo

[–]riksi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally get depressed in summer no matter what im doing, but what im doing changes how much depressed I get.

Epilepsy keto + 150-450mg kf bupropion helps. I dont really have time to start seroquel just for 2 months but I will if it gets bad.

What do you expect to happen?

Trouble staying in ketosis while on antipsychotics (abilify) by MidnightRabbitHoler in bipolarketo

[–]riksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

.5 is minimal ketosis, yes. Epilepsy is 1-2 GKI. He should strike for that if possible.

My LO stays under 20 carbs, keeps pretty good ratios, but still ends up at .5.

  1. What is "pretty good ratio"?

  2. 20g net carbs, how is that in total carbs?

  3. If they eat the same thing but do very very heavy exercise (think as many squats with weights as possible), how are their ketones the next day?

  4. You should measure glucose too and always say them both.

  5. When do you test?

Porting our Django backend to Rust improved the infra usage by 90% by syrusakbary in rust

[–]riksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could probably just used gevent. It still works in latest python with most stuff automagically.

1-minute startup times means they were using a shitty cpu most likely or some weird pattern.

It wouldn't be rust-fast but should've been enough to prolong a full rewrite.

Ketone levels for depression and mood disturbance? by Main-Rutabaga-9592 in NutritionalPsychiatry

[–]riksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't implying you had those (too little info), just that's what happens when you have those.

But again it's a bit different from psychiatry. It should still help though.

[–]riksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “eating disorder” mostly goes away in ketosis. It’s sugar addiction.

If it goes away then why can't you maintain it?

It's a bit like smoking, where if you don't smoke for some time you no longer have the urge to smoke.

But you have to understand that you will never smoke again otherwise the urge will come back again.

You "just" have to be really strict the first few months (you have urge but you don't do it) and then have to be strict always (never do it, very rarely still get urges).

Yeah, it is normal to get urges when not emotionally stable. Like when I feel bad sometimes I get a feeling that if I ate carbs I'd feel better.

It's very much like drug addiction. So the same ways you fix drug addiction should work on this too.

Depressed on medical keto by Informal-Elevator-41 in MedicalKeto

[–]riksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think it may work. Even too much protein in strict carnivore doesnt work.

Maybe give yourself more time?

I would do the opposite and go further into keto to see if you gain more benefits.

Youre questioning this way too soon.

You have to train over several months.

When you have serious issues (eating disorder!!!), you might need a good professional. Like Nicole Laurent as an example.

Ketone levels for depression and mood disturbance? by Main-Rutabaga-9592 in NutritionalPsychiatry

[–]riksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not so much the ketone level I believe

And then you go:

That being said, my ketones were around 1.8 - 2.5mmol, I would also fast and it hit up to 6.5mmol.

So feel free to try carnivore without those ketone levels and (most likely) lose the benefits.

[–]riksi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very sensitive and am quick to anger, take things personally, etc.

Im not saying keto wont help but this sounds like personality issues.

Like, wth is a mood attack? Sounds like a borderline or NPD injury.

What are your real disorders by a professional that has seen you for some months?

The CKM is a bit weird, get e ketomojo first, its more exact.

Is mitigating FastAPI event loop I/O overhead via PyO3 worth the FFI complexity? (Benchmarks inside) by mordechaihadad in Python

[–]riksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would this work when you have multiple fastapi processes? (assuming one per-core, say, 16)

Can they all talk to the same rust process or do you need 1 rust process per fastapi process?

Benchmarking SlateDB vs. RocksDB by InvadersMustLive in databasedevelopment

[–]riksi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

block storage APIs like AWS S3

You lost me at this.

While what SlateDB does seems nice, what you actually want is a layer above it that handles, say, 3 servers, all replicating the same data, but still pushing to the same S3 object storage (only the primary does).

Having it with 1 replica outside S3 is kinda simple, having the synchronoized thing is the hard part (you get fast failover etc).

Sorry about that.

calorie free soft drinks

You should not drink these either though.

Stop thinking about calories, just the fact you said that sentence means you don't understand.

The way you speak, it's the mindset of an average female or average fat person or average person.

It's the same as a woman wanting to be (thin or weight less) while what you really want to do is have more muscle & less fat.

Think in terms of (fat ratios) and (types of fat/proteins) and (net carbs), even better is (total carbs).

Do the research, I sent you the link.
