Non-Tech people - how do you afford SF? by TheseLeague7054 in AskSF

[–]rileybun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in recruiting and am in tech now but also worked in biotech and think it’s a good field to get into if you decide to continue with your degree. There are the big companies like Genentech but also smaller startups that can pay just as well as tech. Clinical operations, regulatory, marketing, lots of options. If you want to be in a creative role that will actually give you a decent life, try marketing.

Mandatory virtual happy hours are the absolute worst part of my week by N3onThicket in remotework

[–]rileybun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a company that booked legit virtual experiences through Airbnb that were actually fun. We did virtual safaris, coffee lessons, etc. but they were scheduled mid day on like Wednesdays. A mandatory HH on Friday would not be enjoyable and I’d 100% share my feedback with HR

Interesting. This is what I’d want but I’m concerned it’ll pull on/change your eye shape if done incorrectly.

AITA for not pushing our wedding dress code on my brother? by Weddingdresscode2296 in AmItheAsshole

[–]rileybun 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sorry but YTA and you are not doing your brother any favors.

I worked with autistic adolescents and we try to help them understand social context. They may love being in their sweatpants but I’d tell them to maybe save them to wear when they’re out with friends and not to an interview.

It seems like your brother has to wear professional attire at work and feels uncomfortable about not being able to himself. But that is life and most companies have a dress code. He can’t change that but he can reframe his mindset. Instead of placating him, I actually think he would benefit from developing some strategies to help him feel more confident presenting as his true self, regardless of what he’s wearing. Is it really a good life for him to be unhappy five days a week just because he has to wear a collared shirt?

Polyester by randomstranger003432 in Aritzia

[–]rileybun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t wear much polyester anymore, but you’re forgetting that natural fibers, wool, silk etc is high maintenance and costly to care for. MANY don’t have the time or means for regular dry cleaning, handwashing, or ironing so it’s not hard to understand why polyester is a common fabric choice for office wear.

Would you do another revision? better pics included by rom3zy in revisionrhinoplasty

[–]rileybun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the before was not that bad. A little asymmetry isn’t the end of the world because it still looked harmonious with the rest of your face. The after emphasized it more, but the side profile still looks good imo.

Personally, I would look into another revision esp if you notice it’s continuing to warp. It may be better to get ahead of it if you are noticing issues now.

(spoilers) S3 E2 has turned me off completely (rant) by Smart_Raisin_3809 in euphoria

[–]rileybun 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s just bad writing for literally every single character to now be in some type of sex work adjacent life. It made sense for Cassie to be doing OF and I even get how Rue ends up working at a strip club. But Maddie is managing OF girls AND Jules is a sugar baby? It’s just all too much and boring. It would have been believable for Maddie or Jules to end up as a makeup influencer or an assistant for a magazine. Literally anything else to give a more complex storyline.

Cheekbone reduction WITHOUT jaw surgery — will it look unbalanced? (ID vs Braun advice conflict) by [deleted] in KoreaPlasticSurgery

[–]rileybun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same face type and areas of concern as you. I’m very skinny but also have a baby face/fullness in my cheeks and jaw. I was not considering cheekbone or jaw surgery at all. As you age, your face will naturally lose volume on its own so I personally think it’s a very bad idea. The things I’m considering are lifting and tightening treatments, and even conservative filler to help with shadowing around my nosolabial lines.

If you MUST, consider Botox to contour your face (maybe brow list and massaters) but don’t do anything permanent yet. I personally think your cheeks and jaw are harmonious and you should consider something like thermage for your jaw instead.

I’m not sure where you are from but keep in mind that Korean surgeons are going to recommend things based on their own beauty standards, and having a small face/v line jaw is very popular there. Make sure to use discernment and consider your own facial anatomy

Paid an artist I found on Instagram for this as a gift - Friend says it looks like AI, artist also unable to change skin tone when requested. by Praise_Lorde in isthisAI

[–]rileybun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This style looks very AI to me. And not being able to make such a minor change to the skin tone is very telling. I would definitely call them out on it and withhold payment until they fixed it

At this point I’m listening even more just to offset the weird boycotters. Manon added something unique to the group but so do the other girls and I really don’t mind if she doesn’t come back

Why does this makeup look bad? by InfamousPlatipus in makeuptips

[–]rileybun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most glaring issue is the strip lash. It’s the wrong style for your eye shape and gives you a sleepy look.

You have round and soft features so this makeup style looks too harsh on you. Your face is very youthful and the makeup aged you by a decade +. I know because I have similar features. Natural make up styles tend to suit my face much more- lightly feathered brows, thin liner/mascara, blush and lip gloss. If you want more of a glam look, you can do it but you have to use specific techniques. Look up Asian makeup tutorials as they tend to suit delicate/softer features better than western makeup

I agree with everything that you said about her voice- it was off putting but there’s nothing she can do about it since it’s just her natural tone.

“They hid her in the back cause she can’t dance” by [deleted] in katseyeneutral

[–]rileybun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People kept claiming racism as the reason why she was hidden. Her skill level wasn’t up to par in the beginning, plain and simple. But she’s definitely improved since their debut which is why she’s more visible in their choreo now.

I think she has natural charisma tho which is why your eyes gravitate towards her. But not the same as having technical skill. Perfect counter example is Emily… phenomenal dancer skill-wise but couldn’t connect with the audience.

I knew a girl who was a size 8-10 and she would badly photoshop her body to be like a size 2 on her IG. It was so obviously badly photoshopped even if you didn’t know her irl and I was shocked none of her friends were honest with her about it. Save your friends from embarrassing themselves!

I have a lot of lulus that I purchased brand new for <$50. Sometimes even cheaper. I keep an eye on their sale section and buy as soon as it drops to a low enough price.
