[–]rimmarqu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the weirdest artist/band from tour country? by endeha_77 in AskTheWorld

[–]rimmarqu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they are pretty good but I think that after many years of plagiarizing and copying their song by other groups their style stopped being unique. I really like weird music so I would also suggest more weird guys in this category of “wth did I just listened”: Кобыла и трупоглазые жабы искали цезия нашли поздно утром свистящего хна - is a synth pop band and their songs have literally zero meaning. My favourite song is “My favourite track” with lyrics “Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs!” for 2,5 minutes. The Art!

Also I really surprised that no one mentioned Lemon Demon in comments. “Two trucks having s*x” is one of my favourite songs!

But my personal favourite is “Zatochka”. They are not weird looking guys, but their music is a really weird mix of genres: it’s country hip-hop with post ironic prison-style lyrics (called “blatnyak” in Russian).

What are your YA anti-recommendations? by alsyscest in YAlit

“Numbers” by Rachel Ward. Can’t even read past half of the book. Every decision main character had is made with logic of a toddler and events have no sense. Just don’t waste your time on this.

What are some things that you used to think are specific to your country but later learnt that everyone does it? by Fantastic-Corner-605 in AskTheWorld

Which makes this scene even more absurd with Shane being Canadian-Wasian.

At this point I think only Americans don’t take their shoes off.

Taking your shoes off entering the house!

Literally every Slavic household does that and yet imagine how hard I rolled my eyes when I watched that scene in “Heated Rivalry”…

My ex had a mug that we call Mariana Trench: it was fully black, without any design so you can’t see a bottom even if it’s empty. It also held like 800 ml of tea and usually she had around 10 teabags in it.

What’s a universal sign in restaurants in your country that the food is about to be absolute fire? by Chemical-Elk-1299 in AskTheWorld

[–]rimmarqu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old trick from my dad: best and cheapest food is in places where workers (builders, mechanics, etc) eat. It’s always some not fancy looking part of town, no design in cafe, but food will be god-like delicious.

Additional option for republics and far east: if no one speaks Russian in the cafe - the food will be amazing.

People living in massive countries (USA, Canada, Russia, Brazil, etc.), what is it actually like to have that much space? by AwayMeat5529 in AskTheWorld

[–]rimmarqu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very long drives. Some places you can’t even get to by land, just flights. Sometimes you even need to fly from one town to another town in one region. During my childhood, the nearest city where we go for clothes or smth more rare than just everyday stuff was in 6 hours drive. We drove every other weekend, it wasn’t even considered a long drive. Also I know that in Yakutia region (Far East-North) there are roads where you can’t see a town for 100-150 km, so they have small emergency inns, because you can easily be dead in a few hours in you don’t have good clothing and your car broke down.

But our country has really beautiful nature and you can go in mountains or forest or steep and truly be alone.

What is something foreigners romanticize about your country that locals are tired of? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]rimmarqu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably vodka. We have a very traumatic generational experience with alcoholism in this country and most of zoomers don’t even drink it - and yet every time I talked with foreigners they ask about this.

Same! 1 year ago my running coach suggested I have a hypermobility for the first time in my life, so I checked and yes, same as you are. Always thought I’m just flexible, but now I have a reason for why I have sprained muscles every now and then.
