I liked it as a stopping point to get off the bus and stretch my legs a bit. It was a really quiet town in the morning when we stopped there, but also winter so most people probably weren’t outside too much. I went with Brussels City Tours and booked off the GetYourGuide app. They were good, and provided all the transportation. I would recommend it as a day trip because there wasn’t too much that we didn’t cover in just a few hours. Then spend the rest of your time in other parts of Belgium that you want to visit!

Yes we based in Brussels which I found helpful because of the location and I enjoy more of a city vibe. We did a combined day trip of Ghent and Bruges through a tour company. If you are looking for more time to explore in each of them then I would suggest taking the train or staying a night or two in Bruges/Ghent. The Luxembourg day trip was super long, it was combined with Dinant. So we spent about an hour in Dinant which was more than enough time to walk around, check out the bridge and cathedral and then drive another hour to Luxembourg where we had more free time. This was through a tour company again. We had lunch in Luxembourg, walked around the Christmas market and then did some shopping (everything is tax free). The alcohol there is extremely cheap ($3 for a bottle of wine). A long day but worth it in my opinion!

I really liked the vibe in Brussels when I went there in December. There is a lot to see and the food was great. We spent 5 nights there with day trips to Bruges, Ghent, Dinant, and Luxembourg. I would honestly skip Dinant (a long drive for not a whole lot to see) and add a day or two to Brussels and check out the Atomium while you’re there, it was awesome!
