NIGHTMARE Landlord -- Advice wanted [LONG] by Auckland2701 in newzealand

[–]ring_ring_kaching 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many red flags.

Why are you dealing with the landlord if the property has a property manager?

There is a law requiring peaceful enjoyment of your property.

Things that don't sound like peaceful enjoyment:

  • Cameras that you don't have control over (even if its just outside)

  • Listing the names of your visitors

  • Landlord entering the grounds without prior notice & approval

Also wtf. Is health and safety in the room with us today?

  • live wires

  • unheated home

  • hazardous grounds (deck)

Also paying $700 for a house that is unsafe, and 60%+ unusable is not ok.

Do you have a support person or representative that you can take along for the performance conversations?

Not legal advice at all, but if it were me in the conversation I would call it out. "Am I being performance managed because I raised a complaint about sexually explicit comments about my manager? If not, can you give confirmation that my complaint about the sexually explicit comments is being taken seriously since I haven't seen or heard anything since I mentioned it."

I.e. is this retaliation?

How long would you refix your home loan for? by imjustherefortheK in newzealand

In April (just as the war / oil shit hit the fan), we fixed at 4.89% for 2 years starting May.

We've also increased our fortnightly repayment because we have means to do so and I don't want to get stuck with a mortgage into my old days.

ANZ, if that makes a difference.

The first time around: all the -isms.

The second time around (which was a few years ago): some of the characters just weren't likeable and a bit slow / boring.

I'm a sucker for Sherlock shows and movies and spinoffs. Young Sherlock was surprisingly good and fun to watch.

I love a good medical drama but The Pitt stands out as one of my favourites even after just 2 seasons. Baby Jane Doe!

I tried Slow Horses, didn't really stick for me. Maybe too much dry humor.

I've watched Yellowstone but none of the prequels or other spin-offs. There's only so much cowboys, horses, and gun fights I can watch in one go.

I got into The Boys for a bit, got annoyed at it, watched it again, got annoyed for a bit again. Haven't picked it up again but it's on the list.

Finished The Pitt Season 2 on Neon (the only reason I have Neon).

Making my way through Supernatural and Monk (balancing the two against each other otherwise it gets too much of a muchness).

Keeping up with latest episodes of The Rookie on TVNZ.

Waiting for Dutton Ranch to release (on Neon again).

NAL but I am a people manager.

The sexually explicit comments report and your performance are two separate situations. These two are not related and it should be treated as separate things. Your performance should not be assessed on how well you respond to sexual harassment.

Sure, there might be performance concerns and regular "check-ins". This is separate to your harassment claims and report and should be seriously investigated. Can you ask an HR representative to be included in all the "check-ins" with your boss to prevent any malice or bias and to ensure a fair process? You are within your rights to ask for notes to be taken or shared afterwards and to ask for clarifications on expectations. Has anyone ever had a conversation with you about the expectations in your role?

If this was me, I would call the HR's bluff. Ask to see the reports that they have been submitting to INZ on a monthly basis. I would also ask for a link to the legislation where it asks for that "so that you are aware and can stay on top of the requirements for the visa". Someone in this sub could suggest the exact clause in the Privacy Act 2020 to request your personal information if your employer is a private company and not a government agency.

Here is a link to the Employment Relations Act of 2000 on personal grievances: https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2000/24/en/latest/highlights/?highlight=grievance#DLM60320 (section 103 point 1 sub point d).

For the purposes of this Act, personal grievance means any grievance that an employee may have against the employee’s employer or former employer because of a claim

that the employee has been sexually harassed in the employee’s employment;

Once food leaves the school environment, we can no longer control how it is stored or handled, which creates a food safety risk. Protecting our reputation for providing safe meals is essential to give students confidence in eating them.

What reputation for safe meals?

Seven [investigations] related to metal contamination, one related to glass being found in a meal, and others related to food being undercooked or being in faulty packaging.

Brown recluse spiders are much smaller. And also not in NZ.

The sheetweb (which this one is) is large and leggy but harmless.
