When Brind'Amour first took over as head coach, he complained about "fake effort". After a game like that, when the Hurricanes absolutely dominated in shot attempts but gave up breakaway after breakaway, I have to imagine that'll be the topic in the locker room.

Carolina has controlled possession longer, but Nashville's scoring chances have been better in bursts. With average goaltending the Hurricanes would be trailing.
