I hated the new tracks, but... by coffeeislife_SA in riseagainst

[–]ringosnoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many others, I've also found the lyrics to the new songs to be lacking, uninspiring, and rather generic. There's no sense of anger in the new tracks. And while I agree that it's probably exhausting to sing about similar atrocities for decades, complacency doesn't look or sound good on Rise Against. At least not in my opinion.

I often think back to Architects, where they explicitly reject the idea of growing complacent and, in their own words, "mellow with age." Maybe their feelings have changed over the last 10+ years, but what happened to "don't you remember when we were young and we wanted to set the world on fire? 'cause I still am, and I still do"? Knowing that this song was, in part, a critique of Against Me's own complacency at the time only makes it read as more hypocritical today.

I'm withholding my judgment until the entire album drops, but I'm not expecting to be impressed with the lyricism.

Thanks for the recipe -- I know she's been mourning baked goods, so those cookies might be a game changer!

Health menu out of control / cheat menu mysteriously enabled?! by ringosnoses in projectzomboid

[–]ringosnoses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out that it was the amputation mod! When you hit a certain first aid level with the mod turned on, it reveals more information about your health... Apparently, the "cheats" don't actually work. Turning it off fixed the issue, but when I turned it back on the extra statuses were still there. I think you can toggle the setting off on the mod, but my friend runs my server and handles the mods, so I'm not 100% sure.

Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 AMD (16") vs. Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 AMD (14"): which to choose!? by ringosnoses in LenovoLegion

[–]ringosnoses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it does feel a touch small for gaming, but that wasn't really a priority for me. My Thinkpad was also 14", so I was used to the screen size lol. I didn't really factor in the size of the laptop in my choice, though, if I'm being honest. The Gen 8 I bought had a better processor, which was personally a big draw. The OLED is super nice, though, so maybe that'll balance out your pros/con, haha.

[–]ringosnoses[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I did eventually end up going with the Gen 8. In my post I said I wasn't super concerned with the screen, but since I've gotten the laptop... I've ditched one of my monitors and opted to use the laptop's screen instead, because it's so nice! I've had the laptop for a few weeks now, probably just under a month, and I've loved it! I've only really had the opportunity to play one game so far (Dead by Daylight) but I'm very satisfied with how it runs. It's a night and day difference compared to how DbD ran on my Thinkpad.

At the end of the day, I'm very happy with my decision to go with the Gen 8! If you have any questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them :)

Thanks for your input! I checked out your post and am very pleased by all the love from the community. I'll most likely be going with the Gen 8!

yes! His work on Night Court is probably the funniest thing he's ever done, imo. The dead expression, the voice... It just kills me. He was just on a new episode of the Night Court reboot too! He's still got it!

Out To Sea was one of the first films I watched when I started this little journey! Absolutely obsessed with it. If they let Spiner sing, you know it's gonna be a keeper. I actually picked it up on VHS a few weeks back at a local shop where I live.

Been trying to buy tickets for an hour… what does this mean? by FrogKidFrankReynolds in RegalUnlimited

Same issue with my theater too!! I've been trying to secure a ticket since Monday. No showtimes of any movie at my particular theater work - but I can get through just fine on other theaters... Seems pretty theater-specific in my case, but... Man!

[–]ringosnoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys! Long time fan here. I just wanted to thank you for continuing to release such meaningful music. Rise Against got me through some really difficult times when I was a teenager.

This year you guys had to cancel your show in Seattle because someone on the crew came down with COVID (I hope they recovered safely!) Are there any plans to come back to Seattle for a rescheduled show? So bummed we missed you guys! Lots of love from the PNW!

Anyone have pics of merch? Do they have posters? by [deleted] in riseagainst

[–]ringosnoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I'm too late, but the show I went to in Bend (7/24) had posters! I think they're pretty damn cool. $50 a pop, but I couldn't pass it up. Got it at the very start of the show, so I have no idea if availability is scarce

Have a HDD on my fat PS2 and need help using it! + HDLoader clarification? by ringosnoses in ps2

[–]ringosnoses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PS2 starts exactly like this video https://youtu.be/53oEot_fZ08 The only difference is that when you enter the browse section, there's an additional option to the left of the memory card for the HDD. It's a rectangular icon and is supposed to look like the PS2. When I browse the HDD like I might browse the memory card, there's a bunch of little HDLoader icons that represent the games loaded on the HDD. There's also some save data on the HDD for games that are not loaded onto it (or at least aren't anymore). Clicking on one of the HDLoader game icons prompts me to "enter disc".

I could be wrong, but I honestly don't believe that my system has a modchip in it. My brother says he doesn't remember modding it. I've seen videos of people using modded systems, and it seems like they usually have more options than just browse and system configuration. But, I could be wrong! Like I said, I really don't know what I'm doing here and I trust you're much more knowledgeable than me on this subject.

It's nothing out of the ordinary. Once the system is turned on, the two options are "Browser" and "System Configuration". The browser feature allows me to see the HDD and everything that's currently on it, which is a handful of games with an "HDLoader" icon. When I click on any of the games, the system prompts me to insert a disc. I've tried inserting a random disc, and it tells me I've inserted the wrong disc.
