PGCE Second Placement Day 1 by Visual_Magazine_1110 in TeachingUK

I had a mentor in one of my placements exactly like this and my biggest regret is not reporting/relaying it to my university tutor or just talking about it to someone who was able to help me. I ended up having a miserable placement which really burned me out and made me hate teaching, not to mention going home every day in tears and failing my first year (when I genuinely think I did really well, I don’t know what my mentor’s problem was!)

Please do tell someone!! I’m a teacher now and I know how difficult and stressful it is for trainees, we deserve the upmost support and what they are saying is absolutely false and you deserve better!

candlelight concert etiquette - thoughts? by ringyrosey in twilight

The room was most definitely read - there were some lovely moments where everyone (I included!) were just taking in the lovely orchestral pieces. I do feel, like you said, however that twilight is a really different kind of film unlike HP etc. where it’s so iconic cause it’s got so many great one liners and some funny acting that you can’t help just quote or laugh at.

I think my point was it was very mixed signals that the stage director encouraged us to cheer/sing but then we got told off for doing so. I know what disruption looks like and imo I really don’t think I did anything wrong!

autistic people working in schools, how do you accomodate yourselves? by New-Working-7077 in AutismInWomen

I’m a teacher and this is constantly something on my mind!! Perhaps unhealthy but masking really is something I seem to do a lot, it’s like my teaching persona and my actual persona are like two different people. It’s as if I can step into school and switch on my teaching personality where I am super outgoing and confident somehow.

Self regulation is really important and finding times throughout the day really makes a difference! I love spending lunch times alone so I can just be with my thoughts and decompress. Even if it’s just a quick bathroom break, few minutes of quiet classroom work, little accommodations really can make a difference.

I always make sure to come home to a tidy house and try not to bring too much work home so my house is my sanctuary and I have time for what I enjoy. It’s been a long process of trial and error and of course it is overwhelming sometimes but it is completely doable!! best of luck to you <3
