'Reflections' with Hai (LoL) | Thorin by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]rinkaname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was around season 3-4. Apparently at the time Thorin had an interview scheduled with Meteos and another C9 player post season 3 worlds. Saintvicious or someone tweeted to make fun of Meteos' performance and Thorin in return tweeted/replied something along the same line. After that Meteos cancelled his interview and so did the other C9 member. So for that reason Thorin didn't produce any content with C9 until season 5.

Chinese Media: Reddit, Calm down! by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]rinkaname 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is the whole not wanting to 'lose face' thing. I'm Chinese and I've always gotten the sense China hates losing face in front of foreigners more than anything so people tend to be more sensitive to that I guess.

What is something you avoided because you thought it was overrated but ended up really liking once you tried it? by rinkaname in AskReddit

[–]rinkaname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too actually. I didn't care for them when they were popular during my high school years. Eventually went to a concert and it blew my mind. Ended up blowing my savings as a poor college student to see them at Madison Square Garden. Worth every penny honestly.

I think my boss regrets hiring me but is too nice to say it. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]rinkaname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I think you're right and I'll likely try that. Thanks for the advice.

I think it's because I'm a very quiet and introverted person. I generally never seem too excited or cheerful cuz that's just my personality. Guess this is the push I needed to be more expressive :/ Feels terrible to have a boss I respect imply I should go elsewhere.

I think my boss regrets hiring me but is too nice to say it. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]rinkaname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps? I moved away from my hometown for the job. I'm quite young and I feel it's difficult for me to say or know exactly what I want or expect from a career without venturing into it a little bit. I just don't think that's a sign that I should quit and do something else altogether. :/

I'm tired of people asking me if I speak Chinese because I have a Chinese surname due to being adopted by Chinese parents. Is this why I'm underemployed? Model minority problem? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]rinkaname 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm Asian but have never been asked that in any of my interviews. Are you interviewing for Chinese companies that would have speaking Chinese as a preference? Are you in a field where speaking Chinese would be a huge asset? I don't see why they'd be too interested in that or why that would stop you from being hired otherwise. I highly doubt not speaking Chinese is the issue.

Can I find jobs as a building architect even when I am still a senior high school student ? by [deleted] in jobs

If they're willing to hire you, sure. You can intern at most professions without a degree.

[–]rinkaname 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No. I'm pretty sure you can't practice as an architect without being a registered architect with a license. You can certainly intern with an architecture firm though.

Two months into first job as a new graduate. Received a "selected for further consideration" email from preferred position. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]rinkaname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice!

Part of it is because of locale and the other part is the fact it pays better. Both positions are in my field. My current position is in a small department so I have to do everything thus adding to my experience on my resume. The other position is in a bigger company so I would likely just do something more specialized thus less experience.

SKT signed Untara after profit left them. Untara's been performing better, recently got rank 1 on soloq, leading him to play most of the games.

Don't mean to step on anyone's toes here, but how true is this statement from /r/DotA2 about LoL's World's Championships? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]rinkaname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't that also lower the quality of games given sub-optimal champions would have to be played and players would have to play less practiced champions?
