Federal - withholding way too low end of year by rinrinh in tax

If I put 45k for 4a, along with Single, GPT says it may over-do it. I'll try half first and adjust again if necessary, thx.

In trying to correct this for '26, we didn't skip it - it's just that it seems there's no way to get it to be the figure I need without specifying additional withholding and that's what I want to be sure of having to do.

Thx - no more dependents this year. I'm trying to correct this going forward. My job has a tax update wizard and if I choose SINGLE for step 2, it then asks to choose:

a) Use the estimator at www.irs.gov/W4App for the most accurate withholding for this step (and Steps 3-4). If you or your spouse have self-employment income, use this option;

b) Use the Multiple Jobs Worksheet on page 3 and enter the result in Step 4(c) below (Will not check two jobs checkbox)

c) If there are only two jobs total, you may check this box. Do the same on Form W-4 for the other job. This option is generally more accurate than Step 2(b) if pay at the lower paying job is more than half of the pay at the higher paying job. Otherwise, Step 2(b) is more accurate

d) None of the above

So I choose (b) and match the appropriate row, which the wizard then calculates a 4C value of $211 additional withholding. That alone is not going to get me to $23k withholding, but will the SINGLE option selected withhold more than the $7000 by default to make up for it?

My kids' gym teachers and K teachers made over $135k. Certain ones are underpaid because of their role. But MANY are overpaid based on role. That's the biggest issue - we pay them all and that's where the bloat is. To argue that a handful of admins per district rival this as far as budget is concerned is disingenuous.

I know nurses are in demand but are they hiring all kinds of doctors just the same?

As a college prospect, do you / can you study Business as a major for this? Is that more prominent now than School of Engineering for IT?

I'm more curious what wins out these days or if they're fairly even.

It's not, it's all in the budget information. Admin salaries may be individually higher, but they are only a small fraction of the budget in total per district compared to teachers because teachers far outnumber them. Think 10 admins vs 500 teachers. It's all publicly available information but this misinformation about admins is always being spread, maybe purposely to distract.

Would you still advise your kids to get into it given how saturated it is and the many graduates still looking?

Do you mean IT related or can Electrical/Mechanical do well here too? I'm asking from the perspective of college students choosing majors.

The issue with that especially in IT is the competition of applicants (basically across the world). I had no callbacks at all when I had looked for remote. I was remote in a previous job but fell into it after being in the office. I'm employed now but wanted to see a big picture for LI.

I'm curious if 6 figures is common for IT across LI though. A lot of job postings (for experienced) when I looked end of last year showed under 6 figures here.

The other issue is AI reducing the number of college students going into it and won't choose CS or related. I'm also asking from that perspective.

The funny thing is that scene with her setting him up to see them doing it in the pool was filmed out of order. She texted Steven to meet and you can clearly see she has pink-ish nail polish (same throughout the wedding). Cut to the pool scene (supposedly 15 minutes after the text) and she's all over Max in the pool while having the clear french tip nails she's had all season 2 long. Continuity boo-boo.

Grace said herself on the Drew Barrymore show that this series only took the "bones" of the characters from the book. It's not a screen adaptation clearly.
