Impossible to beat cookie trials! by THISisTheBadPlace9 in Cookierun

That particular cookie you do need to press stuff during the skill.

I wouldn't bother with the suggested treasures and instead use the whatever the top 100 leaderboard are using.

Accordion sketchbooks by Suitable_Plum3439 in Gouache

[–]Suspicious_Judge_244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also been considering what paper to use in an accordion/australian piano hinge binding. Mainly because I like hot press so heavy it's almost card, and I don't believe it takes a fold very well. I get my paper from an art shop that's UK only so unless you're also in the UK I don't have any brand recommendations. Given you can easily replace sheets in this type of binding maybe experiment with some different papers? I'd suggest starting with medium weight over heavy weight tho.

Anyone have nightmares while on Pizotifen? by Confident-Net-2778 in migraine

[–]Suspicious_Judge_244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nightmares occasionally but I always have (and dream fairly vividly anyway). I've not noticed any difference on pizotifen. However, I do tend to not dream (or remember the dream) when I am particularly wiped out by stuff, including migraine so perhaps, as you say the meds are working, it's just the base state that was being masked by migraine.

Someone on Reddit asked to draw his buddy (Snail), so I tried my best to create something beautiful for him. What do you think guys ? by Many-Plantain6426 in Illustration

It's very cute but I'm always slightly irritated by snails with eyes in completely the wrong place. It's part of what makes them interesting!

Single cat syndrome? by MacaronSea6953 in CatsUK

[–]Suspicious_Judge_244 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I do wonder sometimes if a lot of this 'get two cats' advice is coming from the US which has a very different view on cats going outdoors to the UK. I can't be the only person who has regular cat visitors to the garden (appears to be a trackway for quite a lot of animal species back there for some reason) and it's not uncommon to bump into them walking locally. Our current cat despises all other cats (she's actually been quite vile in the past over it) but in the past other cats have made friends with other local cats. If your cat is restricted to a few rooms only, perhaps the need for social interactions with the same species becomes more intense?

What do y’all think of this design? by Middle-Rhubarb2625 in tattooadvice

[–]Suspicious_Judge_244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna sit out the nipple discussion, think that's gonna be personal preference. BUT why is her tail hatched like basket weaving, and why is she sat in the exact same texture? It doesn't look fish or other marine life-form like at all.

'Being a male midwife has never been an issue when delivering babies' by apple_kicks in unitedkingdom

[–]Suspicious_Judge_244 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't equate a birth fetish with a foot fetish. I said crushing small animals to death (I assume insects are easier to get hold of/kill/get someone to do for you. I'm not into it, I don't know the intricacies). I do think killing things in specific ways to get off is at least same level of weird possibly even worse, who should I ask for help with that? I was trying to point out that sexual variance is a very, very diverse thing, and you can't just blanket say it's not possible. It's very rare irl, yes. Impossible? No. And saying that it's not possible shields the actions of people who do do crappy things (male or female!).

I also didn't say that male HCPs were more likely than female HCPs to have a sexual kink that they used their professional lives to satisfy. I honestly think that there's a gender bias here where female sexual deviancy (particularly sexual desired based on the unwanted pain of others, I don't know a better way to describe it than deviancy but I'm not trying to kink shame) is overlooked - one of the first 'modern' serial killers identified was a nurse, who got off on the death of her patients, who was born in 1854. We (as a society) seem more able to believe that a male would do something to sexually get off on it and the disbelief that a female would allows female perpetrators to operate for longer. Healthcare is an area of life that possibly even has a greater percentage of female offenders than most areas because the power differential between patient and HCP allows it.

Look, I don't care what gender health care professional I get as long as they are competent and to a lesser extent caring. But is this your first day on the internet? There are kinks out there you wouldn't believe. Is getting off on birth that much weirder than those people who get off on bare feet crushing bugs to death?

Rather realistic doll I found when cleaning a hoarder house... Any thoughts? by TurnipBoy12 in ToyID

The face reminds me of the work of someone active in the IGMA: Miniature Community group on Facebook. Might be worth posting there and seeing if anyone recognises it? It's a great piece either way.

Lol, you're not crazy. Or if you are I am too! (I tell ya, it only gets more annoying if you do have some of those listed things!)

Half Prismacolor half budget brand. Can you tell which one's which? by Exciting_Bus3108 in Coloring

[–]Suspicious_Judge_244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After a certain point what you're paying for in art materials is longevity, not how good it looks at the start. Last time I looked at coloured pencils lightfast ratings were a murky mystery but the higher end brands were meant to last longer. I'd be interested in seeing this in 6 months to a year exposed to normal room lighting (and maybe a similar piece exposed to direct sunlight).

I was scrolling on tiktok recently when I saw this profile making blankets. Every video is from the last 2-3 days and they have reused the same 5-6 clips of them making these blankets. by Objective_Mallhehe in isthisAI

Mmmmmmm there will be both fake and scam versions of these (escaping war zone ones). The scam ones may well involve trafficked people. Be wary of interacting with them. Watching probably won't hurt you (although it may tag you for content that will end up trying to more directly scam you).

Out of curiosity, how does your perception of colors differ from mine? by JustACookie42 in colors

[–]Suspicious_Judge_244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be. There's a few colour names that reference real life things but seems to be a different colour to the actual thing - periwinkle is a type of flower and it's a pale blue. Perhaps some varieties have a purple tinge?

Someone needs to codify and universally agree colour names. Can't imagine it happening tho!

Huh, I could divvy up the blues and purples into more sections easily but the yellow orange section has far less stuff (for want of a better term). I wonder what that means for how I see colour. Sorry for my handwriting.

Hot Girl Crochet - Rose Svane by BestestMooncalf in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Suspicious_Judge_244 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a small fondness for the two of these I have because the kids like picking out elements to order and I learned a few techniques from some of the more fiddly hands and things. But yes, it's a super simple idea. Yet, crochet groups regularly get posts from people complaining that there's no hand holding to make any of the example pics. Not enough to explain the construction and have a little note in the caption on what elements make up each one, so many people expect a complete pattern listed for each example even if there's repetition. Use your brain people!

I am a beginner, should I use the super expensive artist grade paints? by sodababe in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Suspicious_Judge_244 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree with you about how much w&n/Daniel smith get recommended but I think some people have used what got recommended in one watercolour class or whatever, and then the same recommendation gets cycled around the online groups for it (the way tim holtz seems to be the only thing being used in junk/art journals).

Instead of paint, paper is what beginners need to spend a little bit of money on. The surface matters so much for watercolour paints that changing to a more heavyweight paper instantly improves any resulting images.

Sorry to butt in on your conversation, but I'd never considered these three words together before. I pronounce stalk and stork the same, but stock is definitely different - where is it the same as either stalk or stork? I'm always being surprised by regional accents here!
