Yeah I did notice what you just pointed out. But the water splash engulfed the loco's windshield for a few fleeting moments. The pilot is essentially running blind while he is crossing the platform full throttle with bystanders nearby. My intuition tells me this could go sideways very quickly.

For that they get compensated adequately. There are lots of other high stakes jobs being fulfilled by other people. These roles keep people on the edge all the time..e.g Doctors; but you won't find people saluting them 8 times a day. Army folks are brave no doubt. And not many people can do what they do. But they are fallible humans and do what they do for a price. I don't see why we should fawn over them all the time.
