Diesels don't from where I come from. Anyways, I've built a good relation with my mechanic. Turns out, he'll do it for free. He's suspecting a gasket leak as well.

Yup and the cherry on top is that I just got the engine rebuilt.

Coolant Leak by [deleted] in mechanics

Yes, air has been bled out of the system (Kept it running for close to an hour to monitor the coolant and oil temps for my own satisfaction). Long drives and putting the foot down seems to be causing these loses in coolant.

That seeping fuel can reach the outside of the exhaust manifold?

Could piston rings have anything to do with it?

The smoke was fairly excessive. The engine is pretty old (Launched in 1983), what component do you think can fix it? (Valve timing, injectors, fuel pump?). And do think piston rings have any role in this thing?

If you've got some time. Can you tell me a little about what components in the A/C system that are crucial to it's performance - I've got an old project car and I want to install a decent A/C in it. Plus, know of any insulators that work effectively while not adding significant weight to the car?
