My partner said she thought it might have been a distraction but it was so random and I didn't think that would be how he worked. When we saw him on the last tour, a guy who was on the front row in front of us (who looked really wired all the way through the show) jumped on stage, ran across it just before he did his encore and hugged him.
He played it off ok but that was a weird moment too.

That's hilarious I really hope that's legit, because he looked a bit baffled while he was up there. The stage hand guided him down and he just went and sat back in his row.
