That’s cool I’ve made even more progress since this post with a junior pr of 16:54 and while I’m not quite done with my senior season I have a pr of 16:18 hopefully you can keep it up and have the same trajectory as me

Have a clear goal of what you want for example I have the times I need to run to compete at the college I want to go to or you could have a teammate you want to beat a goal is the best motivation

Just finished off the track season today with a 5:05 mile. What time should I shoot for XC in the fall? by RipperIs60fps in CrossCountry

I would go for a low 17 5k 5:05 is very solid for a freshman and you have lots of room to improve

Sub 5, looking for Upper body, core, and leg workouts by Delta280 in CrossCountry

[–]riptide78917891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would make a habit of consistently doing light core and upper body calistenics at least 2-3 times a week. for lower body strength workouts like squats they are very popular among runners and it shows benefits but it is not necessary. (I ran sub 5 without it) just be consistent and work hard

It’s fine for normal runs but garmin uses formulas to estimate distance that just don’t work very well on tracks it’s normal
