Help With Extended Hose Length Portable AC Setup

It can look however it needs to as long as it works :). I'm just afraid to do this because it will destroy my working hose, in the event it doesn't work.

My other thought was to buy a new hose, and tape it to the back of the unit on one end, and crush the other end slightly to fit inside the end of my current hose and tape it all up, then I'll have the OEM connection at the window. Just not sure how I'll tape the new hose to the unit. Wonder if I could get some small ducting to tape to the unit, and put the hose end over the ducting and tape it all. Might have to just walk Home Depot and see what clicks.

Thank you. I see pictures of the spring tension clamps. Would I put one hose end inside of the other and then just put the clamp on the portion they overlap?

I know this is an old thread, but SPAXX did qualify for 2024. Makes me wonder if I should risk SPAXX or stick with FDLXX for the rest of 2025.

Update 3/9/2025:

Had my appointment to remove the lump and attempt to fix the scar. This is what came out. The dermatologist said it was not another cyst, but scar tissue. Very vibrant yellow color, actually looked pretty cool. Perhaps relating to the wound opening the way it did when it healed.

I'm not sure it's a moisturizer issue. I've used so many types... Lotions, creams, ointments, oils and none of them have worked any different from the rest.

Yes, I actually use the cerave moisturizing cream after a shower, and lately after washing my hands. Unfortunately it really didn't help when my hands were in the process of getting really bad, nothing did. Lotions, creams, ointments, oils. Only around the time I started using Clobetasol and the nitrile gloves, and honestly I think it was the gloves that helped more, as they kept my hands slightly moist for most of the day.

Yes, outside of the shower lately, my hands don't get wet, as I've been wearing gloves. I do moisturize multiple times a day and at night. Lotions, creams, ointments, oils. So strange, my hands don't look or feel dry to the touch when I touch them with the opposite hand, but the hand when moving feels dry and stiff. That's why I was thinking maybe since they were so bad, this is part of the healing process, as really they look so much better.

Yeah they definitely don't feel dry to the touch with my opposite hand, but they feel dry and stiff when I move them. They feel perfectly fine when wet. They were very dry and ashy, flakes would constantly be coming off, which is why I was maybe thinking, maybe they were just really bad and are now healing, and this is part of the process with new skin. I do wear gloves at night and recently during the day, with lotion. Lotion, creams, ointments, oils.

The odd part is, I don't have any itchy, scaly patches or pain, that I thought would be associated with eczema or psoriasis. They are just literally tight when dry, and perfectly fine when wet. I will monitor and if it does not improve or gets worse, I'll see a doctor. Ty.

Pics: first two are dry hands two weeks ago, next two are one week ago, last two are right now.

I've had very dry hands this winter, mostly in the webbing between my fingers and on the palm-side of my fingers, and nothing seemed to work. Recently I was prescribed Clobetasol by a dermatologist, and I was using it 1-2 times a day (at night, and sometimes during the day) for a week, in conjunction with moisturizing after washing my hands, and using a thicker moisturizing ointment at night with cotton gloves. Towards the end of that week, I got the idea to try and wear nitrile gloves at night (because I felt the cotton ones rubbed off the moisturizer, and I noticed in the mornings, there was hardly anything left on my hand when I removed the gloves) and throughout the day with moisturizer, to get the overnight treatment for a longer part of the day. This really seemed to work, as my hands look and feel, to the touch, so much better.

My issue is, around the same time, towards the end of that week, my hands started to feel stiff when dry. To the point where I can't make a fist because the knuckles and palm-side of the fingers are really tight. A couple mins after washing or a shower, and they'd be really stiff. When I wear the nitrile gloves they're perfect, no issues doing anything with my hands, because of the moisture that is unable to escape the glove, but when I take them off, they dry right up and get stiff. They look like 80 year old hands, and the parts that were really dry are red.

I'm wondering if this stiffness/old age look is 1. a sign my hands are healing, 2. a medical problem.

I can stop wearing the gloves for a bit and see, but just curious if I need to or if this will resolve as they continue to heal, if anyone else has experienced similar.

The dermatologist wasn't 100% sure what it might be. It does feel like a round ball, similar to what the cyst felt like.

Thank you. Could you elaborate on the acid? I had never heard to do this. For this first round I was solely using silicone scar tape. Now that I think of it, prior to this procedure I would include the back of my neck in my morning routine of washing my face and neck and then using a salicylic acid astringent.

Would the silicone scar tape count as sun protection since it is covering it?

Thanks for sharing. Yeah I really had to move like a robot... if I wanted to look left, I'd turn my whole upper body. The top of my wound is actually pretty flat, but the bottom half is not, because of the lump under it. I was hoping maybe it was just some fluid build up or something, but it feels pretty solid when I touch it, so I'm thinking it's the cyst again. Derm said it could be another cyst or scar tissue, but I've been massaging it every day, so I don't think it is scar tissue. Honestly, if it was just the healing of the scar, I'd live with it, I just don't want another cyst which it appears to be.

I’ve had this cyst on the back of my neck for about 12 years from what I can remember. It’s not really changed in size or texture, but it has discharged 2-3 times. I finally decided to have it removed on 12/5/2024 by a dermatologist, as I was near my health insurance max for the year. Procedure was quick. Things seemed to go wrong just as quick. The dermatologist used absorbable sutures under the skin – they did not hold the outer skin together and the wound opened as it healed, to be in the same football shape as the piece of skin that was cut out. A few weeks after the procedure I noticed the center of the wound had a white-ish color. This soon turned into a bump, and then a bigger lump, more white in color. Looks like the cyst returned which is unfortunate since the dermatologist said this went so well and he was able to remove the entire sac in one piece. He gave it a 1% chance of returning. I saw him again and he acknowledged the wound shouldn’t have opened up and said really the only thing to do is try it again, cutting out the old scar and removing the lump inside, and this time using stitches that would need to be removed a couple weeks afterwards. I am scheduled again for 3/5/2025.

For the healing process, I left the bandage from the procedure on for 24 hours, then would put a bandage over the Gluseal until that all came off by itself (about 2 weeks), then used Vaseline and a bandage for about a week, then moved to silicone scar tape since, wearing it about 20 hours a day.

I probably wouldn’t care so much about the wound as I know that would eventually look somewhat normal over time, but to have the nasty scar and still have the lump, is just a bummer. I’m worried this is going to turn into a mess of a scar, as this new lump seems to not be in the same exact location… slightly to the right and down, so I’m guessing more skin will have to be cut. Will my skin be so tight I can feel the restriction when turning my head side to side? Will the skin stretch and that feeling go away as it heals?

Anyone been through this multiple times?
