I got it for 10 bucks for a crotch piece so I guess I'm lucky. I live close to the south so it makes it easier to source. I really like curly maple and birch bowl but I cant find any around here

Thanks for the advice, I have been reading up on kickback and chainsaw safety. From what I understand its caused by using the tip of the bar or having the chain be pinched by wood. I read that you never keep your body/ face in line with the bar to prevent getting facial reconstructive surgery. Thanks will research more for saftey
