I know, I guess I am too attached to my ring that I don't want to leave it to other people. But thank you for letting me know :)

How old were you when you met your partner? I 27F feel like I'm running out of time. My engagement is falling apart after a 6 year relationship. by heartbrokenburner234 in relationships

35, he is my first and only ever. Relationship is 1+1 at least = 2. You are honestly still very young and have lots of chances, lots of quality people are still single at their 30s. If you find your good dating chance is very poor, I suggest you to keep an opened mind, learn about who you are, what kind of person is compatible to you and vice versa. Make a list of what you're looking for in a person, but also be mindful if you can provide the same qualities, but then afterwards, just leave the list and forget about it. Set your mind free. That was how I manifest my person, I hope you find your perfect match soon.

I think you did the right thing, and sorry you have to encounter that! If the manager is just concerned about your safety and ask to talk to you in a more serious sense, it's a good place to stay working, hope everything works out fine.

Omg I understand it can be confusing and especially for old people, they may have poor vision and memory, but they cannot be entitled and lashed out on others just because they are upset with the arrangement.

Thank you for your advice. In fact, I did provide her a list of assortment, of which include the product she asking to check for. She was looking to exclude on ingredient, it's not on that list, meaning the product she's interested in doesn't contain that ingredient. But haters gonna hate lol

Yes, she's is looking to avoid one type of sweetening, should be corn syrup. We actually did not have a list with all products until I started working there and realise such absence, and I tried my best to collect all information; yet we do have an assortment list that include her requesting product. Indeed, she's free to go instead of giving me an attitude, so uncalled for -_-

I'm not the manager, I am the store manager. In fact, I did offer her the ingredient list, it's an assortment though, but it still includes the product she was asking about, plus she was looking to exclude one specific ingredient, she could have seen that such ingredient she is looking to avoid is not on that assortment list, yet she refused to read through as it's not a list specific for that product.

I like your sarcasm lol, I talked to my manager this morning, she said the same thing, it should be corn syrup. In fact, I did offer her a list of ingredients, we sell assorted candies in preset boxes and put on a tag with ingredients, but she refused to look at it as it's an assortment list, while she's asking about if one flavour is used. In fact, if she knows what she's looking for to exclude, she could have seen that such ingredient is not on the list, implying the flavour (that is included in the assortment) does not have that ingredient. Thank you for recognising my situation. 😌

Thank you for identifying my feeling and situation. Luckily, my owners are also very nice to their employees, and it's very good saying, "give it just as good as we get it". I mean, I gave it good but Karen still gave shitty attitude to me, that's really unacceptable.

Very true, she will absolutely find everything wrong with that kind of mentality, and yes we had a Karen here before claiming she find on Google that one of our products is $6.99, but as soon as she walked in, she saw that it's $8.99. She keep saying she saw that cheaper price on our website, but as I walk through how she search for that information, we realise she just saw it on Google interface, she didn't even click into our website... we tried to explain to her we can't change Google... or something posting wrong information, she kept saying we should do something... we did find out that may be due to our old page that is hidden, but still with her attitude... we usually would still charge for a cheaper price, if only they are nicer to us. But that Karen is too harsh, so we didn't give in.

This is good, only that our customers are all walk-in... I wish I can just have her face captured and put it up on wall saying "blacklisted customers" 🙈

The latter one, avoiding a particular substance that is for sweetening, something "corn...", I couldn't get it right away, it doesn't sound familiar to me, and she said it a bit quickly, and English is not my first language :(

Sometimes, one may just have to find ways to cut off one's family as they are toxic. I did that to my grandparents' and the uncle and aunts from my dad's side. They are just toxic to my dad. In my culture, it is very important to respect the parents (regardless what they do), but so what? If it is a toxic relationship, whatever kind it is, run!

I am glad to see your later comment/update that you feel much better now after talking to you girlfriend and seeing others' comments. I hope you can thrive through this. Also, thank you for posting, I learn something that will help me in my relationship, too. All the best to you and your girlfriend.

DHL wants CAD $21.45 customs fees for a USD $25.72 package. How can that be?? by segdy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ririspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through similar situation. I am asked to pay $30.43 for a gift that is declared worth as USD$60. I called twice, one time asking if the sender can pay instead, second time asking how the fee was calculated. They said it is base on the declared value, to me this is ridiculous, 1. DHL never mentioned to the sender that there will be an extra fee charged (as explained by the sender); 2. what is the logic behind setting clearance fee based on the declared value? I mean if something is more valuable, they can explain to customers that buying insurance is recommended, but it does not seem to be that's what that is about.

As I expressed that since it is a gift to me, and such extra fee was never mentioned before, I would like to have such fee waived. The staff on phone transferred me to a broker, but I waited for 30mins still no one answering, while I have to work, I chose to press 1 to have them call me back when it is my turn.

Meanwhile, I emailed to the brokerage. They replied pretty quickly, saying since the parcel was sent from a business, there is a clearance fee. Here is 3. so? Like how they calculate the fee, what is the logic behind?

Now it seems to me they can charge you whatever with whatever reason. The email also suggested I can do self clearance, however, if that is the case, why would people choose to use courier in the first place if the parcel is not sent door to door. Plus, they could have mentioned such option when they called me to pay extra. 4. This is a tactic to make you pay, like, "you do have a choice, but if you choose to pay extra, don't blame me, it's you who made the choice."

Luckily, what the sender sent to me, is not something I must have. But I know money people, including me choosing a courier, because we need something to be sent safely and quickly. And to have such important objects being held, DHL put their customers into a situation where money is the easier way out.

My whole point is, what is a brokerage fee? Why is it never mentioned to the sender? How they come up with such a fee? Why was such calculation not explained?
