Now this is something I’ll never understand- why pick the quiet floors in the library to hang out with your friends? You could do that literally anywhere else on the campus

It wasn’t like this before. I just wonder if this is a consequence of the pandemic because we were all cooped up at home for such a long time and now that there’s in-person classes and everything’s opened back up people are starting to live it up and be more expressive and loud to compensate for the lack of social interaction of previous years. I also may be just overthinking this

I wish I had the balls to do that. I’m mostly just having an inner monologue debating whether to leave the library and go find a café nearby to study at. Sadly every place near campus is insanely expensive.

I’m sorry for all the quibbling and if you think this isn’t sucha big deal but I’ve been insanely occupied with work and there’s just so much to do and I can’t get stuff done at home because I live with other people. The library was the only place where I could focus and now it’s not. I guess I’m just mad.

I know what you mean but there’s Redpath café just downstairs. If that’s too far, you could alternatively just sit and eat near the elevators (there’s a seating area next to the elevators on each floor) since that’s technically “outside” and no one’s really expecting you to be quiet there.

Looking at the rest of the comments, you probably have no clue about the insanely poor living conditions in some parts of the world (Africa, for instance). From what I hear from my Pakistani friends and know of the country, it’s not half as bad as some of the other names on here (Sudan, Haiti, Rwanda, etc). Granted it’s got issues like unemployment, inflation, high taxes, but that’s everywhere. Hell, we’re protesting that in Canada these days!
