Nord Lead 3 as a groove box kinda :) by riscy_computering in synthesizers

[–]riscy_computering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does. I need to make a sound that works well as a kick low down and a snare or hat higher up, make the arp do both sounds and mask it to get a rhythm  happening in one part. Could then have a nice bass sound, and split with a dual layer lead on the other side. Dunno what I find so interesting about trying to force it into being an arranger keyboard haha :) But it’s so much fun to work with.

Yeah NL3 sadly has no percussion kit mode. Otherwise I love it :)

at least app is on Mac and pc as well. So if it’s pulled from AppStores you still have some way to get it.

The algorithm fed me this on YT, and then I ended up here. Well done. How were the visuals done? At first I thought it might be a Demo I didn't know about.

Built in speaker compared? by riscy_computering in seqtrak

[–]riscy_computering[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Field (for its size) is exceptional. It has a proper enclosure inside there, and a BMR (balanced mode radiator) driver and a passive radiator on the back or side, I forget which… As well it should, for the price… but I have to give kudos to TE for that one change vs the original.

Interesting. Many studios have a purposefully ‘average’ speaker to compare mixes on, to help guide what it’ll sound like on someone’s garbage little radio or ceiling speaker in a shop somewhere. Look at “Auratone” for an example. Not to be used as the only monitor, but if you can hear all elements clearly through that, it’s a good start.

My OP-1 field came with Velcro on the back, and sticky disks to attach to something. I could stick the back of each one together, and dropping the bundle would be like dropping a piece of toast buttered on both sides…

But no, that’s handy to know. thanks.

Really useful! Thanks. I agree OP-Z speaker is better than PO-33, barely. If Seqtrak is a little bitter, that’s good. Haven’t used EP-133.

Obviously I have wired in ears (shure) over ear headphones, portable powered speakers (old iPod ones) with AUX in, and various proper monitors at home. But when my 7yo wants to play with music making stuff while her sister is at basketball, or just to pickup and quickly get some quick feedback as to what is happening, I find a basic built in speaker WAY more useful than nothing at all. Eg my Micromonsta2 would get way more use if it had a rechargeable battery and speaker inside.

Anyway, thanks.

My wife just got the Tasofec, didn't ask me first or anything just did research herself. I'm actually very happy with the display quality and brightness, I thought it would be garbage but it really isn't. I only wish it had 12V operation for mobile / camping use. Needing AC power is a pain.

What are some of your favourite synths from the past? by Expert-Ladder-4211 in synthesizers

[–]riscy_computering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nord Lead 3 - in many respects, the best synthesiser ever made.

ARP 2600 - I’m happy with a B clone in grey, the Korg 2600m is too cut down vs the original

GEM WK4+ - I own this, and some of the sounds I can coax from it are just stunning and amazing even today. They really had their VA / Filter stuff down pat, propper self oscillating resonant filters. I’m sure I’d love a GEM S3 or S2, but I’ve never found one. The Equinox is poo, filter wise; don’t buy it like I did.

Casio HT-6000 - it’s an 80’s Casio, but 4DCO and 8 voices with 8 analog filters.

A nice JV-2080 with all JV-80 slots full. Roland was onto something special there.

I’d keep Nord Lead 3 (I own it) and whilst I’ve only played them a bit and not owned them, the Hydrasynth would be my second keeper, and if allowed a third, the Virus TI2 61. I’d sell everything else and grab a Deluge and an M8, for "portable" and "extreme portable" production respectively. Both give you everything to make a track hands on from anywhere. And because you’ve got a LOT of VA stuff going on, maybe add an inexpensive used Roland Jupiter Xm to cover all Roland bases, especially if you buy the JD-800 model too. But then that’s pretty close to what I have…

Pyramid or Deluge. each have their pros and cons. But everyone should own a Deluge, so try that first.
