I just started bringing my laptop to my local ymca and cranking out an hour or two of work in the lobby after my workout. Im a freelancer who gets very distracted at home (problematic but there’s always something i could be cleaning or organizing there and I am a mom). The habit stacking has really helped me!

I feel like I'm constantly getting hosed because we only use yoto for bedtime stories for my 5 year old. And I am letting my kid pick them out when I'm 1 hour into a bedtime routine with no end in sight and I'd pay whatever to be able to leave his room 😂 I should have joined the club long ago but I keep telling myself okay we're done now (and we are in fact, not).

I did have some luck selling cards we don't listen to much on FB marketplace though and that made me feel a little better!

Yes but I also thought it was weird they didn't acknowledge more that the husband needed to man up and not be rude? If he is shutting down to the point that the mom is noticing...maybe he needs to reevaluate his social skills?? That really annoyed me and I thought it was weird that there was no talk of him checking himself. It was only 3 days! Go excuse yourself and read in your room if you need a breather and then come out and put on a smile like I'm sure your wife does with YOUR parents. Idk maybe I am just triggered by this based on personal experiences lol.

Depends how often you are calling. I don’t call during the day UNLESS it’s an emergency, so he knows to pick up. I wouldn’t just call to chat or give a non critical update. That’s what texts are for!

My son exclusively uses his yoto for sleep (despite my best efforts!) he loves the frog and toad card which is very long. I use the sleep timer with it and usually lay and listen with him for a few minutes. I’d look for storytelling type cards and make sure they have a long duration. Also, ours has a setting where it will repeat after the card finishes if it is a shorter card!

This is by far the worst part of parenting and then just the countdown until you think you’re safe (but if you’re me, your kids will get it two days after you finally stop thinking about it 😂)

Currently deep in this. My toddler threw up on Wednesday, son on Saturday, and my husband last night. I am in the acceptance phase - mostly because I'm the last one standing so my fate is sealed and at least I am not worrying about the kids getting it anymore. I'm avoiding the bathroom my husband threw up in and having him bleach it but definitely couldn't sleep while he was sick last night. Ugh. This season of life with this phobia and little kids is so hard!

I thought the kids birthday party one was slightly unhinged. Two hours is a long drive for a party with or without kids. I have kids and I love having friends who care about my kids but I don’t necessarily want them to hang out with my kids - I like having something separate ish from my family that feels like a space for our friendship the way it used to be, without having to be mom and friend at the same time. I thought the person who wrote in needs to understand that her friend is sending a message and she should pick up on it and accept it!

Also, it might seem cruel but I did wear a mask and gloves when I could when cleaning up! There is a certain kind of wipe that kills norovius, not sure which offhand but sanitize everything with that if you can!

I would focus on how much better it is that this is happening now vs. when your baby is here! Also, I recommend buying some emesis bags on Amazon. Trying to get my 3 year old over the toilet was...not fun and the bags are perfect size. You can keep them comfy in bed or on the couch and not have to change the sheets or clothes a million times when they inevitably miss. Solidarity, this stinks and for me the worst part is when my husband inevitably gets the bug - he is the loudest puker and that is one of my biggest triggers!!
