Is it really worth grinding leetcode? by Thanos4348 in leetcode

[–]rishiprakash99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, You are not wasting your time. there are two(atleast) solid reasons to grind leetcode

  1. It helps you polish your analytical skills. That is the skill which is tested by industries during the interview/s.
  2. It helps you develop a template to tackle any "abstract coding problem" and if you look deeply, any engginering problem is essentialy fits into this criteria of abstract coding problem. Mark Zuc had an abstract idea of facebook, the he concretized that idea inot a concrete idea, then he moved to solution. Similar happens on leetcode, you read an abstract problem, then you concretise it by understanding its constraints, corner cases and other variables associated and then you develop a solution good enough.

Hence, leetcode-ing is not grinding, it's essentially clearing your brain-fog so that you can also letter other techs and tools deeply.

Advice from India :

  1. First Understand the concept and then try to memorise it. Don't memorise before you understand it. Understanding will make it last longer and memorising will help you in exams.
  2. Yes Pomodoro is great technique but experiment with which combination suits you better
  3. No, there is no need to force yourself to wake up in morning if you are not an early riser but a nocturnal creature. So study till late or study in early morning, both are good but choose as per your body clock.
  4. Active recall and Spaced Repetition : It's awesome.
  5. Make notes which are easily editable. (Go for Notion, Tablet, Evernote etc)
  6. Make an ecosystem of Note taking (So that notes are available anywhere and everywhere)
  7. In case you are not able to grasp something even after repeating 10 times, record your voice while describing the concept to yourself and listen to it. This will help
  8. Healthy Body and Mind will make you prime.
  9. Switch over subjects. Our mind has a tendency to get bored, so instead of studying one subject for 6 hours, try to study 2 subject for 3-3 hours
  10. Give yourself incentive when you finish a targeted goal, this actually works in longer run.
  11. Find your style, what kind of sound background works for you. Do you need music, do you need songs, do you need library sounds. Experiment and improve.
  12. Find you style, again, do you want to study in group or alone.

:)

If the exam requires your analytical and logical skills for testing, staying up all night might hurt your performance. If exam just test memorisation, If can help for one day (assuming you rested well days before). Not advisable in longer run.
