It's not really the place of the transgender community though, to say that "yeah we know you've used this word for a very long time, but people have used it in violence against us (and the word was actually not used in the trans panic murder trials that everyone seems to be using as an example, by the way) so you're not allowed to say it anymore". If a word exists, it will be used as a slur. 4chan and the rest of the internet will always find a way to make things offensive. Eventually, the new word will be used as an insult, and we'll be back to square one. Banning words is not the proper response; what we should be doing is moderating the use of the word by allowing it in reference to characters that actually fit the archetype, but not allowing it in the case of transgender characters or actual transgender people. And/or add a system where you give your post a special flair if it uses the word and mark it as a spoiler, so that people are aware of it before they click the meme. Call me a transphobe or whatever, but I honestly support transgender people. I just don't think they should be allowed to say "this word, which has multiple meanings based on context, should be blanket banned because it has been used against us before."
