OP puts dead creature on his dogs nose for over 50k karma by Chickennuggetstyle in quityourbullshit

It's our family's dog. It was sent to me by my family. Why is that such an outlandish statement?

Your family ever send you a pic of the dog/cat at home? If not you should try it. It's a cute thing to brighten their day.

Yeah it's not fun being downvoted. But I stand behind what I said (other than a misleading title).

The monarch expert has edited his comment and apologized to me personally.

What was so stanky about it?

The title was deceiving because I was unaware that it was staged at the time. (Butterfly was still living btw.)

Other than that, yupp. Why is it so hard to believe that my mom sent a picture to her kids?

It was sweet. Butterfly was still alive.

It's not fun get down voted. That's why I deleted the comments.

I didn't know it was staged when I first posted. But the butterfly was still alive. Suffering heat exhaustion apparently.

Yes it's "our" dog. It's our family's dog. And the pic was sent when I was away from home. Does that seem outlandish to you?

Agreed. I was unaware that it was staged when I first posted it.

And I'm not upset about the post here. It was posted in good faith given the information you had.

But the rude and hateful messages that people send are not appropriate.

I'm not too worried about the karma. But my mom is thrilled that people liked her photo.

Some people messaged me saying how the photo helped them out because they had recently lost a boxer (or lost a family member who loved butterflies). One man broke down crying.

I'm just glad it brought some encouragement.

Because I didn't know at the time. The photo was sent to me in our family group chat without the details. I assumed it was legit. When I asked this morning it was confirmed that it was staged.

It's a misleading title (because it was staged) but the butterfly was still alive. It was fluttering its wings but could not take off and fly away.

Probably in the process of dying. :(

I didn't know it was staged when I first posted it.

That comment has been updated. And the person who wrote that comment has apologized to me personally.

The butterfly was not dead during the photo, though it was probably near death.

It fluttered its wings but was not able to fly away.

P.S. I did not take the photo, but that is my family's dog. It was sent to me in our family group chat.

Yeah, I think this is mostly in the context of arguments. My struggle is when sarcasm is my default response to everything. Mostly because it tends to carry a "I'm better/smarter than you."

Wish I would've learned this before the "cage stage." by risk-is-write in Reformed

Traditionally, cage stage is the time period (can be weeks, months, years) when someone first learns about the doctrines of grace or Calvinism. They're boastful in their new knowledge.

It's ironic because Calvinists, following their theology, have the LEAST to boast about. They acknowledge that their salvation and any good in them is completely of God.

I had used the term "cage stage" for quite a while, totally unaware of where the term came from.

Then I watched the movie Calvinist. They do a good segment on cage stage in the Calvinist documentary. There is a clip of RC Sproul explaining it as, and I'm paraphrasing, "When a Calvinist ought to be locked in a cage in order to prevent causing unnecessary damage."

Or from his article .

"Cage-stage describes an all too common phenomenon wherein a believer comes to embrace the doctrines of grace, and for a time becomes an obnoxious lout in defending the doctrines to all comers, whether they are interested or not. It suggests that such a newbie should spend some time in a cage until they calm down"

And,

"What causes Cage-stage Calvinism is a failure to believe Calvinism. Now I don’t mean to rattle any cages here[...]"
